“We can drink later. I need a favor,” Nina cut him off. She knew if she let him start, he’d never shut up.
“Well, never thought I’d see the day you came asking me for help! I’m never gonna let you live this down,” The man joked, then said, “Alright, what do you need? For you, I’d go through hell and high water.”
“Get me a few truckloads of bombs,” Nina said.
The guy on the other end was floored. “Are you kidding me?”
Nina was deadpan. “Do I sound like I’m joking?”
“Really? You need me for something this minor?” The man frowned. “Are you in some kind of trouble or what?”
Nina rubbed her temples, getting a headache. “Cut the crap. Are you helping or not?”
“Of course I’ll help!” the man replied. “I thought it was something huge. This is nothing. I can get it done in no time. But what do you even need all those bombs for, anyway?”
“Oh, the Crimson Syndicate crossed me. I’m about to send them a little present they’ll never forget,” Nina said, sounding totally unfazed.
“Shit! Why didn’t you say so earlier? Anyone who messes with my crew must have a death wish. Forget it. I’ll take care of the Crimson Syndicate myself,” Black Wolf growled.
“Hold up. I still need the Crimson Syndicate for something,” Nina said.
Black Wolf hesitated for a moment, then finally said, “Alright, whatever you say.”
After hanging up, Nina leaned back in her chair and shut her eyes, going over all the recent chaos in her
mind.
It looked like a mess of totally unrelated drama, but in reality, every single thing was linked together.
Nina thought about Scarlet’s disappearance, the experimental serum, the missing girls, and Iris’s death.
‘No, there is no way to know for sure if Iris is really dead,’ she thought.
Iris had been dismembered, and they found all the remains, except her head.
Even now, the Justice Bureau hadn’t reached any conclusions. Nina had people searching high and low, but Iris’s head was still missing.
Those assassins aren’t the type to do something pointless like taking the head as a trophy after a kill. Nina suspected the victim might not even be Iris.

As for whether Iris was really dead, no one could say for sure yet. Nina wasn’t ready to believe Iris was gone. just yet.
Besides, even though the Crimson Syndicate wasn’t behind the girls who went missing at the nightclub, Nina just had a gut feeling Frontierland was involved somehow.
And as for the Crimson Syndicate stealing Scarlet’s serum, they were only doing it for someone else pulling the strings in the shadows.
Both things pointed to the same mysterious person.
That was why Nina had to make the trip to Frontierland herself.
Just then, Nina’s phone rang again.
It was Paul calling.
Nina paused for a second before answering. Paul’s voice came through. “Ms. Swanson, sorry to bother you right now, but there’s something I really need your help with…”
“What is it?” Nina asked, getting up to pour herself a glass of water.
“I have an old friend who was suddenly taken seriously ill. The doctors in Roveilia say he only has about a week to live.
“Ms. Swanson, you’re the only one who can help him now. If you agree to save him, I’ll do whatever you ask,” Paul said.
Nina paused for a moment. “Sorry, but I have to head to Frontierland. I’ve got something big I need to deal with…”
Paul sighed. “Looks like fate’s got it in for Mr. Carroll.”
“Carroll?” Nina paused, taken aback.
“My friend is the head of the Carroll family in Roveilia. The doctors said he had about six months left, but two weeks ago, something happened. He was so overcome with rage that he collapsed and hasn’t recovered since…” Paul explained.
Before Paul could finish, Nina cut him off. “Just give me the address.”
