On the way, she gave Ryan a call.

“Nina,” Ryan sounded a little worn out.

Nina furrowed her brows. “Things giving you trouble over there?”

“It’s no big deal,” Ryan replied, massaging his forehead. “I’m just working on something else right now.”

“Alright, I won’t keep you,” Nina said.

Just as Nina was about to hang up, Ryan said, “Did you need something?”

“No, it’s nothing,” Nina replied.

She’d considered asking Ryan to swing by Riverdale for a while.

With those troublemakers at home, she really needed someone who could hold down the fort.

But it sounded like Ryan had his own hands full, so she decided not to bother him.

“Nina, you’re being stubborn again,” Ryan’s voice took on a teasing note. “I told you, no matter what, I’ll always have your back. If you need anything, just tell me. I can always drop everything for you.”

Nina was silent for a moment, but still said, “No, it’s nothing.”

After hanging up with Ryan, Nina called Elaine.
