Charles stiffened, looking a little embarrassed. “What, you planning to hit old man now?”

“No.” Ryan’s expression stayed flat. “But if you try to beat me, I might not be able to get my hands on Nysa’s wine.”

Charles went quiet. His son was as infuriating as ever.

He was only in his early fifties, but he had retired early. With nothing much to do, drinking had become his biggest hobby.

Nysa was a well-known winemaker in the country. His wines weren’t as expensive as those foreign luxury brands, but they tasted great.

Ryan had managed to get Charles two bottles before. Charles only allowed himself a tiny sip each day, and even drinking that slowly, he had finished them not long ago.

He had finally convinced Ryan to get him a few more bottles, but he didn’t expect Ryan to use that to threaten him.

Maria and Zachary rolled their eyes the moment they saw Ryan’s blank face. They had no idea who he took after. He was cold all day long, as if everyone owed him money.

If he had always been like that, his family wouldn’t have felt anything. But in front of Nina, he was just a man hopelessly in love. Maybe she was the only one who could make him go out of character.

Maria walked over and kicked Ryan’s leg. “Sit properly.”

Then she sat beside him and asked, “What’s going on between you and Nina?”

“She’s my girlfriend.” Ryan couldn’t help smiling the moment he mentioned Nina.

Maria couldn’t take another look at her pathetic grandson. Grace even turned her head away, just to avoid getting mad at Ryan.

“If she’s your girlfriend, why didn’t you bring her home earlier? Why let things turn into this mess? Thank God Sarah and I are friends, or I wouldn’t even know how to apologize.” Maria smacked Ryan on the shoulder, furious. “Stop being such a troublemaker.”

Ryan straightened up, looking serious. “I should remind you that you engaged me to someone else without my consent. You violated my legal rights…”

“Hey, you little brat.” Maria slapped him again before he could finish. “What, you planning to send me to jail now?”

“According to the law, a serious case like this can lead to up to three years in prison,” Ryan said evenly.

Maria glared at him. “Like it’s not your fault. You never come home and you never answer my calls. If you had shown your face even once, I wouldn’t have rushed to set up an engagement with Lily.”

She sighed. “Anyway, the problem now is that you might not be ble to marry Nina. Judging by how she looked today, she had no intention of staying with you.

“And Sarah really loves that girl. From the way she talked, she doesn’t want Nina marrying you either.”

Maria looked worried, but inside, she was secretly pleased. Ryan was too arrogant and never cared about anyone, and now someone finally put him in his place. The only issue was that Ni didn’t want to marry him.

Ryan gave Maria a sideways look. “You pissed her off. You go bring her back.”

Maria got angry. “What are you talking about? How is it my fault she left?”

“If you hadn’t arranged that engagement, would she have misunderstood and thought I was cheating? Ryan rubbed his temples at the thought.

He had been accused out of nowhere, and he didn’t even have a chance to explain. Nina wouldn’t listen to a word he said. If he chased her too hard, she would just start swinging. And he couldn’t bring himself to fight back.

“I… Maria had nothing to say for a moment. It did seem like she was the reason Nina dumped Ryan.

Ryan stood up. “Figure out a way to bring Nina back to me. If she doesn’t come back, don’t expect to get anything you want

from me.”
