Nina’s decisiveness and icy calm during the surgery, plus how seamlessly she teamed up with Russell and the others, totally blew his mind.

He was floored by the precision and intensity of it all.

He wasn’t even out of med school yet, but he knew a surgery this intense could easily take two days to finish.

But Nina and her team managed to pull off this insanely difficult surgery in just thirty hours, and they did it with absolute perfection.

He couldn’t be more grateful that he’d practically begged Nina to let him observe in the operating room.

Everything he learned today would be invaluable for the rest of his life.

“Dr. Jefferson, you must be exhausted. Let me have someone show you to the hotel so you can get some rest,” Cheney said.

After Nina left, Cheney wasted no time making arrangements for Russell and his team to get some rest.

Not just Nina and the surgical crew, even those waiting outside were dead on their feet.

The top priority now was making sure these doctors got some real rest.

Cheney even set up a room for Philip, but Philip suddenly piped up, “Mr. Carroll, could I stay at your place too?”

Cheney was so stunned he couldn’t even respond.

“I just want to be near Ms. Swanson,” Philip mumbled, his cheeks burning.

But before he could get another word out, Russell grabbed him by the collar. “Don’t even think about bothering my mentor while she’s sleeping.”

And just like that, Philip was hauled off to the hotel.

Nina slept for a full twenty-four hours straight.

When she finally woke up, the Carroll family was already eating downstairs.

Romeo glanced upstairs, then asked cautiously, “Cheney, are we really not going to ask Ms. Swanson to come down and join us for a meal? She saved Dad, and we’re just eating by ourselves. Isn’t that kind of rude?”

“Ms. Swanson said not to disturb her at all,” Cheney replied quietly. “That surgery must’ve been exhausting. She deserves a proper rest.”

Romeo let out a shaky sigh. “Seriously, I never would’ve guessed. She’s just as young as my daughter, but her medical skills are insane. And she’s even got the Miracle Doctor title. If only Cecilia were so talented.”

As he said that, he shot a glare at his daughter Cecelia, who was just focused on stuffing her face.

“I’m planning to let Ms. Swanson ask for whatever she thinks is fair. Whatever she wants, I’ll make sure she gets it,” Cheney said, worried he might offer too little.

So he decided to let Nina ask for whatever she wanted.

“That works,” Kylan said. “If she asks for too little, we’ll just add a little extra.”

With that, Kylan let out a slow breath. “The doctors say Dad’s doing pretty well. He should be waking up soon. Cheney, we really need to get serious about finding Shirley.

“What happened to Dad was a wake-up call. We can’t let our parents go through life with any more regrets.”

Cheney sighed. “It’s been ages. Tracking down Shirley is gonna be tough. I don’t even have a clue who snatched her back then…”

He paused, then added, “But I think Dad might have some leads. He went to Riverdale not long ago, and ever since he got back, he’s been keeping a close eye on what’s happening there.

“I’m guessing it’s got something to do with Shirley, but I just don’t get why he hasn’t told us anything.”

At the stairway, Nina rested casually against the banister, listening in on the conversation downstairs, her gaze thoughtful.

‘Scarlet… was she really stolen?’ Nina wondered.
