Nina replied, “I slept pretty well.”

Cheney let out a sigh of relief. “That’s good to hear.”

Soon, the new dishes were served, and everyone sat stiffly at the table, eating in silence.

The atmosphere was awkward and a bit stifled.

Cecilia, on the other hand, didn’t care at all. She just kept piling food into her mouth like nobody else was there. She hadn’t eaten enough earlier, and right now, filling her stomach was all that mattered.

Romeo and his wife Susan watched their daughter helplessly, thinking, ‘Why does she have to act like she hasn’t eaten anything for ages?’

“Ms. Swanson, you saved my father. The Carroll family owes you a huge debt. About your fee…” Cheney started.

Before he could finish, Nina just tossed out a number. “2 million dollars.”

2 million dollars was honestly the cheapest she’d ever go for.

She was only charging that because Loren might be Scarlet’s dad.
