There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, then Paul’s scolding voice came through the phone.
“You little brat, don’t you know your own limits? You actually think you can become the Miracle Doctor’s disciple? Do you think just anyone can do that? Dream on!” Paul said sharply.
“Dr. Berger, I really want to be the Miracle Doctor’s disciple! You have no idea what happened in the operating room…” Philip pleaded.
“Alright, alright. If you really manage to become the Miracle Doctor’s disciple, that’d be quite the blessing for you,” Paul interrupted. “But remember, you need to learn well from Ms. Swanson and don’t embarrass me.”
Philip was Paul’s favorite student. He had real talent and never shied away from hard work.
But what really set him apart was his passion for medicine and his hunger to learn, qualities almost never seen in young people these days.
That was why Paul couldn’t help but pin his hopes on Philip, wishing that maybe, just maybe, traditional medicine could make a real comeback in the hands of the next generation.
“Don’t worry, Dr. Berger. I promise I won’t let you down,” Philip said, practically bouncing with excitement.
“But it all depends on whether Ms. Swanson is willing to take you in. Don’t go harassing her nonstop!” Paul warned.
Philip, ever the persistent one, just went silent.
‘Eh, Paul doesn’t need to know anyway, Philip thought to himself.
Philip hung up on Paul and spun around to face Nina, his eyes practically sparkling with excitement. “Dr. Berger gave me the green light! Ms. Swanson, what do you think? Can I…”
Nina’s lips curled into a mischievous grin. “So, you’ve really thought this through? Ready to call me your master? Not scared of a little suffering?”
“Absolutely! As long as I can be your apprentice, I’ll take whatever comes, even if I have to walk through fire or jump into boiling oil!” Philip vowed, brimming with determination.
Nina’s smile grew even more dazzling. “Alright! For now, stick with Russell. When I get back, we’ll throw a proper apprenticeship ceremony.”
With that, before Philip could even process it, she strode into the elevator. Cheney saw her go and immediately followed after.
On the ride to the airport, Nina glanced at her phone, her eyes narrowing with a hint of seriousness.
The screen was displaying a paternity test report.
It was the test between Scarlet and Loren.
The results confirmed the biological relationship.
Scarlet was Loren’s daughter.
Nina saved the paternity test report, then leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes for a moment of peace.
So much had happened lately, and she had no idea what kind of chaos was waiting for her in Frontierland. She needed to be ready for anything.

Cheney drove with laser focus, but kept sneaking glances at Nina in the back seat through the rearview mirror. She looked. totally relaxed, eyes closed as if nothing could bother her.
Even now, he still couldn’t believe that Nina, who looked barely in her early twenties, was actually the Miracle Doctor.
She was just way too young for that kind of title.
But he had no choice but to believe it. After all, she was the one who saved his father. She was the Carroll family’s benefactor.
He just couldn’t figure out what Nina was really after.
Before long, the car pulled up smoothly outside the airport.
Nina opened her eyes just as her phone started ringing with a message.
It was from Ryan: [Nina, where are you?]
Nina paused for a moment before replying: [Roveilia. Just taking care of some things.]
Ryan: [I’ll come with you.]
Nina paused, fingers hovering over her phone. [Ryan, we broke up.]
Ryan: [I know. So, boss, got any physical needs lately?]
Nina was speechless.
Ryan: [It’s free.]
Nina jabbed at her phone a few times, finally typing out: [No need!]
Ryan: [No way! I know you do. Even through text, I can tell you’re dying to take care of those needs.]
Then he sent her some pictures.
The pictures were all his ab selfies.
Ryan: [Tempted yet?]
Nina stared at the photos Ryan had sent her, swallowing hard.
‘Seriously, this guy has absolutely no shame left!’ she thought.
She gripped her phone, her fingers flying as she almost sent “Yes,” but sanity kicked in at the last second. She ended up typing: [No.]
