Chapter 193
Chapter 193
Ryan: [Are you sure you’re not tempted?]
Then he sent her some more pictures.
Ryan: [How about now?]
Nina’s phone instantly blew up with a flood of steamy shirtless selfies from Ryan.
Nina finally lost it.
She flipped her phone over on the seat. Out of sight, out of mind.
“Teasing me is literally his only hobby,’ she muttered to herself.
If this kept up, she might actually lose control.
“Uh, Ms. Swanson, we’re at the airport, Cheney finally said.
He’d been sneaking glances at Nina in the rearview mirror the whole ride. Even though she was totally absorbed in her phone, she had this boss vibe that made even someone way older than her like him feel nervous.
‘Seriously, I can’t even twitch right now!’ Cheney thought, feeling completely frozen in place.
‘Wait. Why is Nina’s face so red?’ he wondered, puzzled.
‘Man, the AC’s blasting, so it’s definitely not the heat… he thought.
Nina shot Cheney a quick look, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and stepped out of the car.
“Thanks,” she said.
Then, with nothing but her icy, proud back left for Cheney to see, she walked off with that signature confidence of hers.
It wasn’t until Nina’s figure disappeared from view that Cheney finally let out a long breath, realizing his back was soaked with sweat.
“This girl is freaking unbelievable,’ he thought.
Nina looked so young, but every move she made just radiated boss energy. No one else could even come close.
Her blushing cheeks made her look super cute, but that vibe she gave off was so intense that one just wanted to obey her without even thinking.
But even now, Cheney still couldn’t figure out what Nina was really after by getting close to the Carroll family.
From their brief conversation today, he got the sense that Nina was intentionally probing for information about their younger sister.
He wondered, ‘Could Nina actually have some connection to our younger sister?
“That’s right. Nina also lives in Riverdale.
‘Riverdale, huh? Looks like I need to keep a closer watch on that city!
Cheney took a moment to compose himself, casting a long, thoughtful glance at the spot where Nina had vanished from sight, then finally pulled away in his car.

At the Swanson residence, Ryan had been waiting forever for Nina to text back, but still nothing. He let out a frustrated sigh.
‘Guess even my charm isn’t enough to reel Nina in anymore,’ Ryan thought, feeling a little defeated.
Ryan spun his phone between his fingers, lost in thought. Suddenly, he stopped, grabbed his laptop, and started hammering away at the keys.
After a moment, he froze.
The little red dot on his screen came to a halt.
Leaning back on the couch, Ryan let a sly grin slip. “Frontierland, huh?”
‘Nice. Haven’t been there in forever,’ he mused.
Ryan snapped his laptop shut and glanced at Felix, who was standing silently behind him. “We’re leaving for Frontierland in ten minutes.”
Felix’s lips twitched. “Ryan, Ms. Swanson hasn’t even replied to your messages. Isn’t it kind of weird to just show up like
that?”
Ryan lifted his eyes lazily. “Nina’s just being shy. Like you’d understand, you lonely single.”
Felix was left speechless.
He thought, ‘Alright.
‘Sure, you’re the expert.
‘Let’s see if Ms. Swanson doesn’t end up kicking your ass for this.’
Felix cleared his throat, trying to save Ryan from getting himself smacked. “Weren’t you supposed to keep an eye on the Swanson family for Ms. Swanson? The Lowell family’s got evidence her dad committed rape. If you don’t step in, he’s probably headed for jail.”
Ryan shot him a look. “Why is that my problem?”
Felix blinked, then said, “Uh… he’s Ms. Swanson’s father.”
“But he doesn’t love Nina,” Ryan said, deadpan.
Felix froze.
He thought Ryan was right.
