Ryan rubbed his temples, sounding a bit helpless. “Nina, you dont need to put up walls with me. I know Scarlet means more to you than anyone else, and I’ve never suspected her of being behind this.”
To Nina, Scarlet was truly irreplaceable. No one else even came lose.
If Nina had to rank the people who mattered most to her, Scarlet would always be number one, with Sarah right behind.
Scarlet had literally saved Nina’s life, keeping her safe from all the chaos and darkness of the nightclub scene, never letting her get stained by any of it.
She’d even shaped Nina into the strong, capable woman she was how.
Scarlet wasn’t just like Nina’s sister. She was the one who changed her life.
Scarlet was amazing, honestly.
Most people never gave Scarlet the respect she deserved, but the truth was, hardly anyone out there could measure up to her.
She didn’t just save Nina. She helped countless people claw their way out of poverty, giving them hope for a brighter future.
But while she was lifting others up, she herself was trapped in the shadows, fighting to survive.
Ryan knew exactly how much Scarlet meant to Nina. He also understood that if he ever crossed Scarlet, Nina would become deadly. She wouldn’t hesitate to go for his throat.
Nina’s eyes grew calm again. She looked at Ryan and asked, her one flat, “You know what Scarlet’s doing, right?”
Ryan didn’t say a word.
Nina gave him a quick look, but let it go. “Is she safe?”
Ryan and her had known each other for ages, and both were well aware of who the other was on the surface.
But there was another identity she kept hidden from Ryan.
And Ryan had his own secrets, another life he never let her see.
They both knew the other was keeping things under wraps, but either ever asked. That was just how it was between them.
Some things were just secrets.
No one ever spoke about them.
So Nina didn’t push Ryan for more.
Ryan was quiet for a moment before finally saying, “I don’t know Scarlet’s gone off the grid. We’ve lost contact with her.”
He didn’t tell Nina about Scarlet’s other identity. That was classid.
Nina finished getting dressed, grabbed two bottles of wine from he fridge, and tossed one over to Ryan. “So, you went to
Betrico to deal with Scarlet’s situation?”

Ryan never hid anything from Nina unless it was top secret. “Mtly, I was trying to find out who drugged my mom, and while I was there, I had to sort out some mess at the company.”
Ryan paused for a moment before saying, “From the very begining, I never believed Scarlet was the one who gave Clara the drug. I’m telling you this so you’d know what’s really going on.
“Someone’s orchestrating a scheme against her.”
Nina took a sip of her wine and gave Ryan a long, searching look “And I’m just a pawn in their game.”
Ryan’s grip on his wine bottle tightened, but he stayed silent.
He would never let Nina be just a pawn in their game.
If anyone dared to hurt Nina, they’d have to get through him first.
Nina finished her wine in one go, pulled out her phone, and called Falconer. “Retreat.”
After hanging up, she turned to Ryan. “If Scarlet doesn’t want me to look for her, I won’t. But Ryan, I need Scarlet to stay alive, whatever it takes.”
She had no idea what kind of mission Scarlet was on.
But whatever it was, it was tied to Ryan’s other life.
That was something she could never ask about.
All she cared about was that Scarlet stayed alive.
As for the drug, she’d figure out a way to get it back.
As long as Scarlet needed her, Nina would give it everything she got.
“I’ll do everything I can,” Ryan said. He couldn’t guarantee Scarlet would be safe.
He was doing everything he could to find her.
Ryan was totally in the dark about what had happened to Scarlet Right now, all he could do was try to reach her.
Meanwhile, Grey Eagle, Black Wolf, and Storm were sitting down for breakfast.
Grey Eagle kept sneaking glances at Nina’s room. “Black Wolf, didn’t you say Kairo and Ryan broke up? So how come they ended up spending the whole night together?”
Black Wolf just stared at him, speechless.
‘Don’t ask me, I’ve got no clue either,’ he thought.
‘Man, Ryan’s got some kind of magic. That guy’s seriously addictive, Black Wolf grumbled to himself.
