Chapter 207
Chapter 207
If Elaine stepped in, it’d probably be settled in no time.
“Trust me, I can handle it. The Lowell family? They’re nothing to me,” Elaine said, her tone cool and casual.

“Mrs. Swanson, let us take care of this,” Max said. “Mr. Foster and Ms. Swanson asked us to look after you. If anything happened, we’d never hear the end of it.”
Sarah stayed quiet for a long moment before finally sighing. “Alright, thank you. I just have two requests: James can’t end up in jail, and the formula stays with us.
“Anything else, as long as it’s within my power, I’m fine with any compensation.”
Elaine smirked, a hint of mockery playing at her lips.
She thought, ‘Seriously, the Lowells want compensation?
Yeah, right. As if!’
“The Swanson family’s business is none of outsiders’ concern!” A chilling voice suddenly came from outside the door.
Elaine’s face turned stormy in an instant. Without even thinking she kicked the guy straight away.
With a loud bang, Martin shot across the room like a cannonball slammed into the wall, and ended up sprawled on the floor, looking totally pathetic.
“Elaine, what do you think you’re doing?” Martin demanded, clutching his stomach as he struggled to look up. He shot Elaine a death glare, eyes burning with hatred.
Elaine stared down at him, her voice cold as ice. “Trash. Stay away from me.”
Martin’s face twisted with rage. “This is the Swanson residence, not the Sinclair residence. Don’t get it twisted. We’re not so desperate that we need outsiders meddling in our business.”
Elaine let out a mocking laugh. “You really think I want anything to do with your messed-up family drama? Please. Even if you begged me, I wouldn’t waste my time.”
Elaine turned to Sarah. “Mrs. Swanson, since someone’s stepping in, I’m not getting involved. But I’ve got one rule. Wherever you go, you need to stay where we can see you. I have to make sure you’re safe.”
Elaine tossed out that line and went straight upstairs.
Sarah shot Martin a frosty glare. “Are you out of your mind? Elaine’s helping us out of kindness, and this is how you treat her? Did you forget all your manners?”
“How does it look, letting some outsider butt into our family’s business?” Martin said, his voice cold and hard. “I’ll take care of this myself. I’ll go talk to the Lowells. I won’t let the Swansonmily lose a single thing.”
“You?” Sarah looked at Martin doubtfully.
“I don’t want to see Dad get thrown in jail either,” Martin said.
He coughed a few times, stifling the pain in his chest. His eyes kered over James’s face, and a quick flash of hatred crossed his eyes, but nobody caught it.
“I’m still the eldest son of the Swanson family. Maybe Grandma will show me some favor,” Martin said. “I’ll do everything I can to protect the formula. Grandma, you can count on me.”

Sarah’s aged, cloudy eyes lingered on Martin for a long time before she finally spoke. “Alright, it’s up to you. But don’t forget to protect the formula at all costs, and make sure your father doesn’t end up behind bars.”
It wasn’t that she was taking her son’s side. If James really had messed up, she’d turn him in herself, no hesitation.
But her son had been set up.
No matter what, she couldn’t let her son take the fall for something he didn’t do.
“Alright, I’ll do my best,” Martin said, a glint of something unreadable flickering in his eyes as he headed out.
