Chapter 214
Chapter 214
Stella was so spooked by Nina that she didn’t dare pull rank as the elder anymore.
Vivian squeezed her hand, reminding her not to go head-to-head with Nina.
Stella was still angry, but she managed to hold it in.
However, her tone was still sharp.

“So, are you running the Swanson family now?” Stella shot Nina frosty look. “You think you can just step in and handle your dad’s mess just because you’ve got Ryan backing you up?”
Nina twirled the cup between her slender fingers, looking totally unfazed. “Whatever my dad’s got going on, I’m not getting involved.”
Hearing that, Vivian and Lily both breathed a sigh of relief.
They thought, ‘Thank goodness.
‘As long as Nina keeps her hands off this mess, we’re in the clear!
‘If that psycho really wanted to butt in, she’d be an absolute nightmare to deal with.’
James looked up at Nina, a sharp ache twisting in his chest.
After these past few days with Nina, he knew exactly what kind of temper she had.
From the way Nina sat there, it was obvious she could handle this if she wanted to.
And even if she didn’t step in, Joshua and Ryan could easily take care of it.
Even Elaine had made it clear she could deal with the whole mess.
But since Nina didn’t want to get involved, Ryan and Elaine obviously wouldn’t lift a finger either.
He didn’t blame Nina.
This was all his own doing. Because of his grudge against Vivian he’d never really given a damn about his kids.
And now, expecting his own daughter to bail him out… He knew he shouldn’t have asked for that.
“Alright then! If you’re not getting involved, just stay out of it,” Stella said, a wave of relief washing over her. It wasn’t really Nina she was worried about. It was Ryan who was backing her up
Ryan was a whole different beast.
If he ever got involved, there was no way they’d ever get their hands on that formula.
Now that Nina was staying out of it, everything else should be a breeze.
Stella turned to Sarah. “Look, Sarah, no matter what went down those years ago, Vivian’s been part of your family for over twenty years now and has had several kids with you.
“I never meant to dig up old grudges, but you guys really crossed the line when you kicked her out and sent her back to our family. That’s the only reason things blew up like this.”
Stella was still wary of Nina and Ryan, so her tone softened a loosing that bossy edge. “Here’s what I’m thinking. Forget the

“Let’s trade: you give me the formula, I’ll hand over the video, and after that, we’ll just pretend none of this ever happened.
Deal?”
Nina lifted her gaze, her cool eyes sweeping across Stella’s face. You want the formula? Then I’m in.”
Stella’s expression changed. “Didn’t you just say you weren’t getting involved?”
Nina shot Stella a cold look and sprang to her feet.
The sudden move made everyone in the room flinch.
Sarah reached out and grabbed Nina’s hand. “Nina, don’t…”
Sarah was seething at Stella, but she couldn’t let Nina go after he again.
After all, Stella was still her grandmother.
If word got out, it would ruin Nina’s reputation.
Nina chuckled. “Grandma, relax. I’m just getting my laptop.”
Sarah finally let out a breath as she watched Nina take out her laptop from her suitcase.
Nina sat down, fingers flying across the keyboard, her voice cool and collected. “Grandma, are you getting forgetful in your old age? I said I’m not getting involved with my dad.”
She was so composed now, a total contrast to the girl who’d looked ready to explode just moments earlier.
Stella froze, her face going rigid. “What are you getting at?”
Before Nina could say a word, Stella cut her off. “Don’t act like you can just snap your fingers and fix this, even with Ryan backing you up. I’ve got the video.
“If you don’t hand over the formula, your dad’s headed straight to jail. You really want a father behind bars? And if he goes down, the Swanson family business is going down with him.
