Miranda stood up, feeling completely at a loss. She had no idea what Nina was about to do, but she could sense that Nina was furious.

She was even angrier than when she’d taught Miranda and Lily lesson at the nightclub before.

Miranda didn’t dare say a word. She just stood there with her head down, quietly off to the side.

“Who told you to get up? Get your ass back over there and stay pt. You’re not leaving this table until you’ve sat here for at least an hour, Elizabeth barked, her face turning cold the moment she saw Miranda stand up.

Miranda trembled, hiding behind Nina and not daring to utter a single word.

“Your grandma is talking to you. Can’t you hear her?” David said goldly. “Do you want me to enforce the family discipline?”

“I-I…” Miranda stammered, trembling even harder at the mention of family discipline.

She clutched at Nina’s clothes in fear, her voice trembling. “Aunt Nina…”

“Aunt Nina?” David frowned, shooting Nina a puzzled glance. ‘Since when did Miranda have an aunt?’ he wondered.

William couldn’t hide his surprise. ‘So this Nina is actually Miranda’s aunt?’ he thought.

‘No wonder her expression was so off when she saw Miranda eating by the doghouse earlier,’ William thought.

Yvonne said with a cold edge, “Miranda, you used to be naughty but now you’re even lying?

“You’ve been living with the Hawthorne family since you were four. Where would you get an aunt from? You can’t even bother to make up a convincing story. Clearly, your father hasn’t taught you well.”

After that, Yvonne turned to David. “David, you need to teach her a real lesson. First, she tried to kill Emily, and now she’s lying. If this keeps up, she’ll end up destroying the Hawthorne family. She needs to know what real consequences are.”

David’s face went dark. “Bring me the whip.”

“David!” William barked, his voice brimming with anger. “That’s enough!”

“William, this is my daughter. I’ll discipline her myself,” David said coldly. “Ever since she started hanging around her mom from the nightclub, she’s picked up nothing but sneaky tricks. There’s no way I’m letting my daughter turn into someone like that!”

A servant walked in with a whip in hand.

David gave the whip a sharp tug, pointing at Miranda with it. “Ge over here.”

Miranda broke down sobbing, her voice shaking with fear. “I’m telling the truth! She really is my aunt.”

“Still got the nerve to talk?” David snarled.

David was about to strike Miranda with the whip. Just as it was about to hit her, Nina snatched it with lightning speed Nina’s face was cold. In one swift motion, she wrapped the whip round David’s neck “Do you really have a death wish?”

Nina’s grip was merciless. David didn’t even get a chance to read before the whip cut off his an

“How dare you!” Elizabeth slammed her hand on the table. “You got the guts to come into our house and attack someone? Guards, grab her!”

In an instant, a group of bodyguards swarmed in, surrounding Nina and her group.

Loren and Cheney’s faces were dark with anger.

Before coming to Betrico, they were really looking forward to meeting Miranda.

When they found out Miranda was a child of the Hawthorne family, they actually felt kind of relieved.

Shirley had been kidnapped and sold off when she was just a little kid, but her adoptive father took her in and raised her.

After he passed away, she was left all alone, drifting from place to place.

She was so small and fragile, yet she managed to make it through all those years in the chaos of the nightclub.

They felt really guilty about Shirley.

They always thought Miranda would have it better than Shirley, since she was living with the Hawthorne family.

At the very least, they figured Miranda would always have enough to eat and wear in that house.

Sure, the Hawthorne family didn’t let Miranda starve or go without clothes, but the stuff they actually gave her to eat was a whole other story.

They fumed, ‘Just plain bread? Not even any greens? And they made her eat at the doghouse?’
