A few years ago, after David sent Miranda away. Edward was so furious that he checked himself into a sanatorium.

While he was there, he fell gravely ill. Every doctor said it was hopeless, and the family started preparing for his funeral.

But then, overnight, his father miraculously woke up.

When the family asked how it happened, he simply said Ms. Swanson was the one who saved him.

The moment William figured out Nina was the one who’d saved his dad back then, he shut up real quick.

Now, he hoped she could work her magic again and save his old man.

About an hour later, Nina plucked out the silver needles from Edward.

“How’s my father?” William blurted out. “Can you tell what’s wrong with him?”

Nina glanced up and tucked the silver needles back into her pouh. She didn’t answer his question but said, “Looks like your family’s got more than a few moles hiding in the shadows”

William froze. “What do you mean by that?”

Nina shot him a deep look. “Edward told me that while he was in the sanatorium, you were the one running things.

“But when he came back, he stripped you of your authority. So, ut of everyone here, you should be the one who hates him most, right?”

William’s eyes widened in disbelief. “That’s not true, Ms. Swanson! Yeah, he took back control, but I never held it against him. Everything the Hawthorne family has is because of him. I respect him. Why would I hate him?”

“Oh?” Nina curved her lips in a sly smile. “Looks like the real snakes are hiding somewhere else in this family.”

She tucked her pouch into her bag, shoved her hands in her pockets, and said coldly, “Let’s go. Time to see which rats are lurking downstairs. I put 1.5 billion into Edward’s business, and he got poisoned. I’m going to make them pay.”

With that, Nina strode straight downstairs.

William just stood there, totally dumbfounded.

He thought, ‘Did I just hear that right?

‘She actually invested 1.5 billion in my father?

‘Wait, my father was poisoned?

‘And the one who did it was someone from our own family?’

William stared at his unconscious father, gritted his teeth. “Dad, don’t worry. I swear I won’t let whoever did this to you get away with it.”

With that, William followed Nina downstairs.

Downstairs, Elizabeth saw Nina coming down and started cursing her out. “You little bitch! How dare you come into my house and cause trouble? I’ll tear you to pieces and feed you to the dogs!”

Nina shot her a frosty look and then sat down on the couch, crossing her legs. “Miranda.”

Miranda hurried over to Nina. “Aunt Nina.”

Nina said casually, “Lesson one: give them a taste of their own medicine. Now watch and learn.”
