Sarah’s face changed. “When did they leave?”
She’d already had someone keeping an eye on Waverly. ‘Why hasn’t anyone reported this to me?’ she thought.

“Just now. They left through the garage,” Luna said. “I couldn’t sex clearly from outside, but it looked like Nina didn’t want to go.”
Sarah immediately stood up. “Go get Anna.”
Luna answered and hurried off to find Anna.
Anna hurried upstairs, and Sarah didn’t waste a second before demanding, “Why did no one tell me Waverly and Hazel left?”
Anna blinked in surprise. “They didn’t leave. I’ve been keeping an eye on her the whole time. She’s been in her room and hasn’t gone out.”
“She just left, with Hazel, through the garage,” Sarah said, her voice low and serious.
“But she never left her room…” Anna replied, still puzzled.
Suddenly, it hit Anna, and she blurted out, “Oh no, I forgot her window faces the backyard. She could’ve gone straight to the garage from there.”
“Quick, get everyone together and go find them. Bring Hazel back to me!” Sarah commanded urgently. Right now, she didn’t care about anything else; her only concern was getting Hazel back as soon as possible.
Anna hesitated for a moment before saying, “When Nina left, she told us to make sure you were safe. If everyone leaves, what about you? And besides, Waverly is still Hazel’s aunt. She wouldn’t actually hurt her, would she?”
“You don’t get it,” Sarah said, her voice tight with worry. “That daughter of mine, family means nothing to her. Ever since she got married, she barely comes home, and the other kids in the family aren’t close to her at all.
If she’s suddenly taking Hazel out with her, she’s definitely plotting something. I already feel so guilty about what happened to Joanna. I can’t let anything happen to Hazel. Go, now!”
After Sarah finished, she called Max over. “Max, Ryan assigned you to Nina. Both of them trust you, and so do I. I’m asking you. Please help me find Hazel and bring her back.”
Max didn’t even think before shaking his head. “Sarah, I’m sorry, but I can’t leave your side for even a second. Before Nina left, she made it clear. No matter what happens, I must stay with you and ensure your safety.
“We need enough people here in case something goes wrong. I rally can’t help Hazel right now.”
“But-” Sarah started, but Max cut her off.
Max said seriously, “You know, to Nina, you’re the one who matters most. If I were to walk out now and something happened to you, can you imagine how Nina would react?
“You haven’t spent much time with her these past years, so may you don’t really know her.
“But I’ve been with Ryan long enough to get a sense of her. If anything happened to you, it wouldn’t just be the person who hurt you. Nina would come after me, too.”
Max looked at Sarah, his face solemn. “Please, don’t let Nina’s trust in you go to waste”
It’s not that Max didn’t want to help Hazel, but Nina had given a strict orders: no matter what, he had to keep Sarah safe.

With Matthew still in the house, Max couldn’t risk leaving Sarah alone since no one knows if he’d try something again.
Sarah sighed. “Alright, let Anna take care of it.”
She thought, ‘Max is right.
‘Nina has done all this to keep me safe, and I couldn’t let her down.
‘Matthew is still here, and ever since Nina showed up, he’s been lot more careful.
‘But no one knows when Matthew may try something again.
‘I had to look out for myself, so Nina wouldn’t have to keep worrying about me!
“I can’t leave, but I can check the security cameras,” Max told Sarth. “Just stay put and wait for news. If I find anything, I’ll let you know right away.”
“Alright, I’ll leave it for you. Thanks for your help, Max,” Sarah said.
