Chapter 302
Chapter 302
Back in her room, Nina pulled out her phone and made a call.
The call connected almost immediately.
She didn’t bother with small talk. “What’s going on with the Crimson Syndicate?”

Black Wolf’s voice came through the line. “It’s chaos. They’re short on cash and scrambling to get more.”
A faint smile tugged at Nina’s lips. “Chaos? That’s just what we need.”
Black Wolf chuckled. “Want me to stir up some more trouble for them?”
“No need,” Nina replied coolly. “If things aren’t messy over there, the two ghosts on my end will just keep hiding.”
Black Wolf said, “Alright, as long as you know what you’re doing. But the Crimson Syndicate has been smuggling out a lot of pregnant women lately.
“All of them are Clusians. They did it under the radar, and by the time I caught wind of it, they’d already vanished. Want me to look into it?”
“Check it out,” Nina ordered. “Once you find their exact location, don’t make a move yet. Wait until I deal with the two ghosts on my side, then we’ll go save them.”
“Got it,” Black Wolf replied.
Nina hung up and spun her phone between her fingers.
She leaned back in her chair, eyes half-lidded.
Martin and Matthew were playing it safe.
Looked like they weren’t going to make a move anytime soon.
She needed to figure out a way to force their hand.

Luna had barely stepped through the door when Linda rushed over, concern etched on her face. “Luna, where did Nina take you?”
Even though Nina hadn’t stirred up any trouble for the second and third branches lately, ever since she returned to the Swanson residence, there hadn’t been a moment’s peace.
Linda couldn’t shake the worry that Nina might be up to something with Luna.
Luna, who had been totally confused, finally snapped out of it. She grabbed Linda’s hand, practically bouncing with excitement. “Mom, I just became Camden’s apprentice!”

“Camden? Is it that Camden, the one who retired from Betrico University?” Linda blinked, still confused, then her eyes went wide.
“That’s him!” Luna said. “You have no idea, Mom. Meeting Camden felt like I was in a dream.”
“But didn’t Camden leave Betrico after he retired? Plenty of people wanted to become his students, but no one could find him for ages. So how did you manage to find out?”
“It was Nina!” Luna burst out. “Can you believe it? Camden is actually Nina’s mentor!”
Linda stared in shock. “What? Didn’t Nina drop out of high school? How could she possibly be Camden’s student? Are you sure about that?”
Luna said, “No way, Camden said so himself! And Nina didn’t just drop out of high school. She got into Betrico University on a special admission.
“She earned two Ph.D. degrees from Betrico University when she was only sixteen! She’s a genius, not the loser Vivian always calls her.”
Linda was genuinely stunned.
She never would’ve dreamed Nina was this badass.
Linda thought, ‘Seriously, getting two Ph.D. degrees from Betrico University at just sixteen?
‘Honestly, there’s probably only a handful of people in the whole country who could ever do something like that.’
“So, Nina took you out just to introduce you to Camden?” Linda asked.
Luna nodded so hard it looked like her head might fall off. “Yeah! Camden has been living in Riverdale ever since he retired, so this whole year I get to hang out and learn from him at his place every single day!”
“Okay!” Linda said, patting Luna’s head. “With Camden guiding you, getting into Betrico University will be a piece of cake.”
After a moment, Linda said, “By the way, how come you’re acting so differently toward Nina now? You used to be nothing like this with her.”
Luna’s excitement faded as she flopped onto the couch, letting out a little huff. “Honestly, I used to believe all the crap Lily fed me. She kept saying Nina grew up in some shady nightclub, probably caught some weird disease.
“She also said Nina was always pissed because she took Nina’s place. So Nina came back just to make Lily’s life miserable. I only went after Nina because I thought she was the one bullying people.
“But then, one night when I was heading home with some classmates, we got jumped by a bunch of criminals. They grabbed me as a hostage, and it was Nina who came to our rescue.
“That was when I realized Nina wasn’t anything like what Lily made her out to be,” Luna admitted, guilt creeping into her voice.

Luna and Lily weren’t particularly close.
Vivian was always comparing Luna to Lily.

But after all those years together, even knowing Lily wasn’t truly a Swanson heiress, Luna still naturally counted Lily as one of her own.
