“Mom, let me out! I don’t want to leave Riverdale!” Luna yelled, banging on the door in desperation.
Linda didn’t even acknowledge her. “Just listen to me. I’ll transfer you to another school, somewhere nobody knows you.”
With that, Linda turned to the maid. “Watch her closely. If she so much as tries to leave, you’ll answer to me.”
Just as she was about to leave, a thought struck Linda. She walked back in, snatched Luna’s phone and laptop without a word.
She took away anything Luna could use to communicate with the outside world.

Two days later.
Nina had just finished washing up when her phone rang.
It was Camden.
Nina picked up. “Camden.”
Camden’s voice came through, furious. “Tell Luna I’m ending our mentor-student relationship. She’s no longer my student, and don’t ever come looking for me again.”
Nina frowned. “What happened? Did she do something wrong?”
She’d been busy with other things these past few days and hadn’t checked in on how Luna was doing with Camden.
“Did something wrong? She didn’t bother showing up at all!” Camden snapped. “I prepared all the study materials and waited for her for two days, but she never came.
“When I called her, she told me not to call her again, and she’s quitting. I’ve taught plenty of students, but I’ve never seen anyone so rude.”
Nina furrowed her brows. “Camden, please don’t be angry. Something must’ve come up. Let me check in with her first.”
She didn’t know Luna all that well, but she could tell Luna wasn’t the kind of person to do something like that.
Especially since she’d always dreamed of becoming Camden’s disciple. There’s no way she’d just give up on a chance she’d worked so hard for.
“Whatever the reason, I’m done teaching her,” Camden snapped, then slammed the phone down.
Nina pinched the bridge of her nose, then headed straight for Luna’s house.
