324 Chapter 324
324.Chapter 324
Nina looked up at the guy in front of her, totally caught off guard “Why are you here?” Ryan rested his chin on Nina’s head, his voice soft. “You’re not feeling great.”
Nina pressed her lips together. “So, you came here just because ‘m in a bad mood?”
“Yeah,” Ryan replied.
Nina paused for a moment. “So, you’re just tossing the rules aside now?”
“My Nina’s in a bad mood,” Ryan said, reaching out to ruffle her hair, his eyes practically dripping with fondness.
If Nina was upset, he’d drop everything and come running.
Even if the sky was falling, Nina would still be his top priority. And the discipline was just another 12-mile haul. He’d done it more times than he could count. He couldn’t count, and honestly, he didn’t care to.
Not that Nina ever knew about any of it.
Nina let out a soft laugh, then grabbed Ryan by the collar and gave his lips a playful nip. “Wanna go to your place?”
Ryan lowered his gaze, his long fingers brushing gently against Nina’s lips. “Not tonight.”
“Why?” Nina arched an eyebrow.
‘Ryan’s not trying to seduce me today?’ Nina thought, a little surprised.
Ryan’s lips curled into a faint smile as he took Nina’s hand, and together they got into the car.

Not long after Nina left, Lily picked up her phone and dialed a number she knew by heart.
She called twice, but both times, the person on the other end hung up instantly.
Lily bit her lip, refusing to give up, and dialed again.
This time, the call was picked up almost immediately.
But the voice on the other end was tinged with anger. “Didn’t I tell you not to call me unless it’s important?”
Lily listened to the angry voice on the other end, her fingers gripping the phone so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
She took a shaky breath, her voice trembling as she whispered, Dad, when are you going to take me away? I can’t stand being here for even a minute longer.”
“Really?” The man’s voice was icy. “Did you finish your mission?
Lily stayed quiet for a long time before finally speaking, her voice shaky, “This mission is just way too hard. No matter how hard I try, Sarah still doesn’t like me.
“In the whole Swanson family, Vivian’s the only one who’s even remotely nice to me, but her words don’t really count around here. I just can’t get you what you want.”
“If you can’t get what I want, then don’t come back,” the man said coldly.
“So, what’s more important to you? Your precious stuff or me?” Lily’s voice was shaking with frustration. “You promised you’d come get me after I’d spent a few years with the Swanson family.
“But every year, it’s just another excuse. Now you’re asking me to find something that isn’t even real! When are you actually going to take me home?”
Lily’s voice cracked as she yelled, “Everyone else gets to be with their parents, but I have parents, and I still can’t go home! Don’t I get to have my parents’ love too?”
There was a long pause before the man finally spoke, “In the Nicholson family, we don’t keep dead weight.”
Lily felt her heart drop into an icy abyss.
She demanded, “Do you seriously not care whether I live or die? What if Vivian ever finds out I’m not even a Lowell, but your daughter with the Lowell family’s foster girl?
“Wouldn’t she totally lose it and try to kill me? You seriously wouldn’t even care if I ended up dead, would you?”
“Shut up!” the guy snapped over the phone, his

All that answered her was the cold, endless beeping of the disconnected line.
Lily gripped her phone so tightly it felt like she might crush it in her hand.
Her eyes turned cold and hard, a steely glint flickering in her gaze.

“Alright then, Lily thought. So, none of you want me, is that it? Just wait. One day, I’ll make you come and take me home yourself.
