Martin interrupted him. He said, “Mom never knew Lily was his. She thought she was Uncle Mason’s daughter; that’s why she protected her. Drop your feelings, Matthew. She’s been playing us from the start.”

Matthew couldn’t accept any of it. He said, “I don’t believe a single word you’re saying.”
