The woman clearly enjoyed seeing Ethan all flustered. She dipped her head and gave his earlobe a quick, teasing bite.

Ethan could only manage a weak moan.

Nina said something else, and Ethan rushed out, “No, it’s nothing I just accidentally hit my leg, that’s all Nina, uh, let’s talk later, I’ve gotta deal with something.”

Before Nina could say another word, Ethan hung up in a flash.

Then he yanked the woman off him, sounding totally exasperated. He said, “Ms. Sinclair, can you quit teasing me? If Nina finds out about us, she’ll kill me.”

Elaine lounged back against the bed, reaching out to lift Ethan’s chin with one finger. She said, “What’s the matter? You slept with me, and now you want to pretend it didn’t happen?”

Ethan’s face flushed with anger. He said, “It wasn’t me who slep with you.”

‘She was the one who slept with me, Ethan thought, feeling totally wronged.

He was still completely baffled by how everything had gone down.

He’d just come to Seabridge with a couple of his buddies for a business deal, and since they had nothing better to do that night, they decided to hit up a bar for some drinks.

Then, out of nowhere, Elaine showed up, grabbed him, and just kissed him right then and there.

He could still remember the look on the guy who was with Elaine at the time, like he was ready to kill him on the spot.

‘After that, wait, what happened next?’ Ethan thought.

His mind was a total blank as Elaine just hauled him straight into her car.

Next thing he knew, still completely out of it, he found himself at a hotel.

And then, Elaine totally jumped him; he got forced into bed, no chance to resist.

Back then, all Ethan could think was, ‘I’m dead meat.’

Elaine was completely drunk, had no idea what she was doing. If she woke up and caught them like this, she’d probably rip him apart.

He wanted to run for his life right then and there.

But his brain kicked in; he couldn’t just bail after she’d lost her innocence. He had to at least give her some kind of explanation.

So he just waited for Elaine to wake up.

But instead of the drama he’d braced himself for, Elaine was totally chill about it.

She just shrugged and said, “We slept together, so let’s get married.”

Ethan was scared out of his wits.

He thought, ‘Wait, marry her?

‘Elaine? Seriously?

‘I couldn’t even wrap my head around it.

‘She was the Sinclair family’s princess; who was I supposed to be, just some random guy?

‘Like I had any right to marry Elaine?’

But Elaine totally made up her mind; she just grabbed him and hauled him off to meet her parents, no questions asked. Man, when he showed up at the Sinclair family’s place, the way they looked at him was like they were ready to eat him alive. Ethan took a deep breath, his tone earnest and a little nervous. He said, “Ms. Sinclair, whoever started it that night, what’s done is done. I won’t run. I’ll take responsibility and make it right but.”

Before he could finish, Elaine interrupted him and said, “Just call me Elaine.”

Ethan was speechless.
