The room was silent for about thirty seconds.

Then Elaine suddenly threw herself into Nina’s arms, looking absolutely devastated. She said, “Nina, my innocence is gone.

Ethan took it.”

Ethan was stunned.

Nina’s head snapped up, her whole vibe turning icy as she glare at him. She gritted her teeth and asked, “Ethan. What the hell is going on?”

Ethan felt a chill run down his spine under Nina’s murderous glare. He swallowed hard and stammered, “No, no, it’s not Just let me make my excuses, uh, I mean, let me explain.”

Before he could finish, Nina lunged forward, grabbed him by the collar, and dragged him right up to the hotel window. She said, “Go ahead, try to weasel your way out of this.”

Ethan was freaking out. He said, “Whoa, Nina, chill. It’s not like that, I swear.”

Ethan thought, ‘Holy crap.

‘Nina is seriously terrifying.

‘I knew that if Nina ever found out I’d slept with Elaine, she’d totally tear me apart.

‘And now, instead of cutting me to pieces, she was about to toss me out the window.

‘My life is over.’

Elaine knew Nina would always have her back, but she never expected her to go this hardcore.

Nina was actually ready to throw hands with her own brother, all for Elaine’s sake.

Elaine quickly jumped in and hugged Nina tight. She said, “Nina chill. I was just messing around. You can’t really toss Ethan out the window; if you do, I’ll be a widow for real.”

Nina was so stunned.

Nina’s gaze darted back and forth between Elaine and Ethan.

After a long pause, Nina frowned and said, “Seriously, what the hell happened? Spill. Now.”

Elaine nervously tugged Nina away from the windowsill, careful not to set her off even more.

As soon as Ethan was free from Nina’s grip, he jumped back like he’d been electrocuted, putting as much distance between them as possible.

He was scared Nina might just snap and toss him out the window before he even got a word in.

Ethan thought, ‘Damn, that stings.

‘I’m her brother, for crying out loud.

‘She’s willing to kill her own brother for a friend?

‘Savage.’

“I was just messing with you,” Elaine said, pouring Nina a glass of water with a nervous laugh. “Ethan and I did sleep together, but it wasn’t him making the moves; it was me.”

Nina paused, her hand hovering over the glass. She shot Elaine sideways look and said, “As long as you didn’t get played, it’s all good.”

Ethan was speechless.

Ethan thought, ‘Nina. Are you even hearing yourself right now?

‘What do you mean, as long as Elaine didn’t get played?

‘I’m the one who got screwed over here, okay?

‘And wow, talk about total double standards.

‘Just now, when you thought I slept with Elaine, you looked ready to go full psycho on me.

‘But when Elaine’s the one who slept with me,

Ethan was feeling so damn salty right now.

“I just knew my Nina would always spoil me,” Elaine said, hugging Nina’s arm and acting all cutesy, totally different from her usual ice queen vibe.

Honestly, with Nina around, Elaine could never keep up her cold front.

Ethan was speechless.

He thought, grinding his teeth, ‘Alright, fine.

This is what having a great sister looks like.

‘That really stings.’

Elaine gave an awkward laugh, sneaking a glance at Nina and asked nervously, “Uh, Nina, what would you say if I became your brother’s wife?”

Nina fell silent.

Elaine cleared her throat and fished out two little red marriage certificates from her bag. She asked, “You won’t freak out, right?”

They thought, ‘We’re so screwed.

‘Nina’s face spells trouble.

‘Is she about to say no?’

“Nina?” Elaine called out softly when Nina didn’t say a word.

Nina sprang up, startling Ethan. He lunged for the door, gripping the knob as if his life depended on it. He said, “Chill, Nina. I swear, I wasn’t trying to take advantage of Elaine. Seriously, I’m stepping up and doing right by her.”
