Nina’s face was icy. She said, “Get in here.”

Ethan didn’t say a word, just stood there, not moving an inch.

Ethan thought, ‘No way am I going in there.

‘If I step inside, Nina’s gonna kill me for sure.’

‘Three seconds. Move it,” Nina said, her voice icy.

She’d barely finished speaking when Ethan burst through the door, not wasting a single second.

Nina’s face was expressionless. She said, “Go stand against the wall.”

Ethan had no idea what Nina was up to, but he did as he was told and went to stand by the wall without a word Nina stood right in front of Ethan, looked him up and down, the said coolly, “Lay it all out, your dating history.”

“Huh?” Ethan said, looking totally lost.

“How many girlfriends have you had? Or do you have an old flame? Someone you never got over?” she demanded. Ethan’s mouth twitched. “Nina, do you seriously have me all wrong? I mean, look at me. I’m just the black sheep of the family, nobody’s favorite rich kid. Who would ever go for someone like me?”

“So you’ve never had a crush on anyone?” Nina pressed.

Ethan instinctively glanced at Elaine. “Does she count?”

“Wait, what?” Nina was totally stunned.

Elaine tugged on Nina’s arm. She said, “Well, you know. I’m his first love, the one he’s always hung up on.”

Nina just blinked, at a loss for words.

‘Damn, I jumped the gun, Nina thought.

Nina cleared her throat, her expression dead serious as she asked Ethan, “So, what are you planning to do from now on?” “From now on?” Ethan hesitated for a moment, then said, “If she ever finds someone else she likes, I’ll sign the divorce papers, no questions asked.”

“So you’re already talking about splitting up?” Nina said, her face went ice-cold.

Ethan scrambled to explain, “No, it’s not like I want a divorce. If she ever stops loving me and finds someone else, I won’t make things difficult for her. I’ll let her go.”

Sure, it’d hurt.

But as long as Elaine’s happy, that’s enough for him.

Nina stayed silent for a long moment, then, without saying a word, grabbed her phone and headed outside.

Elaine and Ethan had no idea what she was doing, so they just stayed put in the room, waiting anxiously.

And they waited and waited; an hour went by.

When Nina finally came back in, Ethan was totally stunned.

He watched as a whole crowd followed her in like a parade, packing the suite wall to wall.

Before Ethan could even wrap his head around it, a woman in a crisp white suit stepped up and said, “Mr. Swanson, hi. We’ re Ms. Swanson’s personal glam squad. I’m Verity, and we’re here to get you ready.”

Before Ethan could even process what was happening, a bunch of people walked in carrying racks of suits.

Verity said, “These are all high-end tailored suits. Go ahead and pick one you like; the rest will be sent to Riverdale, per Ms. Swanson’s orders.”

Ethan looked at Nina, practically trembling. He asked, “Nina, what’s going on here?”

“It’s a marriage proposal,” Nina said coolly.

“A marriage proposal?” Ethan asked, and he was even more lost

“What, you got a problem?” Nina asked. She raised her eyes, her one icy. “You think you can just marry my friend without a proper proposal?”
