She and Ethan had never been close, so by all rights, she should e been jealous that he managed to marry Elaine. But she didn’t feel even the slightest bit of envy.
After that phone call with Darren, it was like she’d finally shaken off the shackles that had been holding her down.
She used to be so narrow–minded, always focused on chasing whatever success was right in front of her. But that was not how things should be.
Lily was meant to aim higher, to reach for something greater. And learning to control her emotions was the lesson she’d have to master from now on.
Meanwhile, Sarah stared at the marriage license in Elaine’s hand stunned for a moment. Then her eyes welled with tears. “Good, Ethan, you’ll never have to be on your own again.”
Ethan had always been mature, even as a kid, and never gave her any trouble. Kids who were always good rarely got any treats. That was just how Ethan was.
Ethan was so mature that the whole family just ended up overlooking him. Even Sarah had ignored Ethan more times than she could count. But that didn’t mean she didn’t care about him.
Now that Ethan was marrying Elaine, Sarah was genuinely happy for Ethan.
Sarah sniffled and said, “Anna, tomorrow, let’s pick out a lucky wedding date. We haven’t thrown a proper party in years, so Ethan’s wedding has to be perfect. We can’t let Elaine feel slighted at all.”
The grandkids in the Swanson family still hadn’t gotten married Ethan was the first of the younger generation to tie the knot. For the Swansons, this was the first truly happy event in ages.
Anna was honestly thrilled for Ethan. She nodded. “Sure thing, I’ll get up early tomorrow and notify others.”
Sarah held Elaine’s hand. “Elaine, if you need anything for the wedding, just tell me, okay?”
Before Elaine could respond, Sarah went on, “Oh, and we still need to make it official with your family, talk to your parents about the gifts.”
Elaine smiled, “Sarah, Ethan already made the formal visit to my parents. No need to go through all that again. Just let my parents know the wedding date, and they’ll show up.”
“No way! Since when do two kids get married without the grooms family making the formal visit?” Sarah insisted. “Ethan doesn’t know how these things work, so don’t let him mess it up. The elders have to handle this.”
Elaine glanced at Nina.
Nina just said, “Let’s just do it Grandma’s way.”
Elaine finally said, “Alright, Sarah, you take care of it. I’m good with whatever you decide.”
After that, everyone from the first branch went to bed early, while the second and third branches stayed behind to hash out the betrothal details.
They discussed how much the gifts should be, what kind of processes to prepare, and everything else that went with it.
In high society, it wasn’t just the wedding that was complicated. Even the whole process was a big deal.

Chapter 360
Some families were really into details, so there were all kinds of traditions and dos and don’ts to keep in mind.
With all these arrangements, before they knew it, it was already midnight. But nobody seemed tired at all.
Luna watched everyone laughing and chatting together, and suddenly let out a sigh.
Linda glanced over. “What’s with the sigh all of a sudden?”
“The couple I was shipping broke up in less than ten minutes,” na groaned. “I’m so heartbroken.”
Linda just stared, lost for words.
