‘What? Why am I getting dragged into this? I never messed with Nina,’ he thought.

Ever since Nina gave Martin a good beating on her first day home, Henry had been avoiding her, not daring to provoke her at all.

Why is she targeting me now? And how did she find out I sent that proposal to SN Corporation? I thought no one knew, he wondered.

Nina frowned, “Can’t understand what I said?”

Henry flinched at her tone and quickly pulled out his proposal. “Here, take it. Just don’t threaten me, okay?”

Nina was speechless. ‘When did I ever threaten you?’

Ignoring Henry, she handed the proposal to Sarah. “SN approved Henry’s plan. He’ll handle the follow-up.”

Everyone was stunned, again.

Henry was completely bewildered. “What?”

“Wait, my proposal got approved? Why didn’t anyone tell me?

‘I’m just a junior employee. I threw this proposal together to test myself. It’s pretty basic.

Why would SN approve something like this? Is Nina messing with me?’ he wondered.

Lily was practically losing it. “No way! Henry just graduated and has been at the company for a year. He’s a nobody. Why would SN choose his proposal?”

Tears filled her eyes, her voice shaking. “You’re making up stories to dodge responsibility, Nina. I know you hate me. If you want something, just say it. I’ll give it to you.

“But I poured my heart and soul into this proposal. If you want it, fine, I’ll hand it over. But you can’t even erase my name.”

Lily broke down sobbing. “This is a 300-million-dollar project, not some game. You didn’t help with the proposal, and now you want to take over? If something goes wrong, you can’t handle it.

‘Please, I’m begging you, just admit it. I won’t blame you. I’ll make sure you’re included in the project.”

Seeing Lily cry, Vivian exploded. “Nina, you’re impossible. First, you steal Lily’s proposal, and now you’re using Henry’s to cover your tracks? Where did I go wrong having a daughter like you?”

Then she turned to Sarah. “See? This is who Nina really is. I warned you about bringing her back, but you just wouldn’t

listen.

“Ever since she came home, our family’s been a disaster. She’s a thief at her age. Who knows what she’ll do next? You need to kick her out today.”

“What, are you going to throw me out too?” Sarah said, her voice low and serious.

Vivian exploded. “Enough is enough. Nina turned out like this because you spoiled her. If she can steal from her family today, who knows who she’ll target next? You’re going to ruin her sooner or later.”

“But she did steal my proposal,” Lily wailed, her voice breaking, “Grandma, I poured my heart into that. Now it’s been ripped away. Don’t I deserve an explanation?”

Just then, Nina grabbed Lily by the hair, and Lily let out a piercing scream.

Vivian’s face dropped, and she snapped, “Nina, what the hell are you doing?”

Nina didn’t even spare her a glance. Instead, she slapped Lily’s check a few times with her pale hand, her voice flat. “You think I’m going easy on you to be nice?”
