With that, Nina yanked Lily’s hair back hard, grabbed a wet wipe from the table, and slowly cleaned her hand like Lily was

toxic.

“Listen up,” Nina said coldly, “don’t bark at me. It drives me crazy, and when I’m mad, I love knocking out teeth.”

Lily’s fingers dug into her palms, pure hatred burning in her eyes.

Nina grinned, looking satisfied. “That’s the look I want. Keep glaring at me, and maybe I’ll show some mercy.”

Lily’s expression shifted, quickly hiding her hatred.

Nina turned coolly, grabbed Henry’s proposal from the table, and tossed it to Martin. “Hey, Mr. 180 IQ, check out what a 90 IQ rookie can do.”

Martin looked uncomfortable, but he still picked up the proposal and started reading.

The more he read, the more stunned he became. Henry’s proposal was beyond perfect, absolutely flawless. His and Lily’s proposal wasn’t even close to Henry’s.

Martin gripped Henry’s proposal, his face going pale. He’d poured so much effort into this, but Henry, a total newbie, had completely crushed him. It felt like a brutal public humiliation.

Nina

gave Martin a cold look. “So, what do you think?”

Martin’s face stung like fire, as if he’d just been slapped hard. As he looked up, he caught pure mockery in Nina’s eyes.

All his buried inferiority came rushing back, and it made him want to prove himself even more.

Martin lifted his chin, acting all high and mighty. “Even if SN approved Henry’s proposal, that doesn’t change that you stole something. Maybe you didn’t take Lily’s, but you swiped Henry’s.”

He turned to Henry. “She stole your work. Aren’t you pissed?”

Henry looked confused. “Why would I be mad? Whether she stole it or not, at least someone saw my proposal. That means I did something right, yeah?”

Martin just stared at him. What a total idiot.’

Nina smiled, savoring Martin’s expression.

She towered over Martin, her voice dripping with scorn. “You idiot, after spending a whole day at SN, you still haven’t figured out why I was in the CEO’s office?”

Martin was stunned. ‘Yeah, how did Nina get into the CEO’s office?’

SN’s security was insane. Only the CEO’s guests and Brian could get in.

Then it hit him. “You used our names to get in, didn’t you?” he asked.

Martin figured Nina must’ve just slipped in with them when they went to SN.

Nina stared in disbelief. ‘I’ve never met anyone this clueless. And we’re actually related? Gross!

“Nina, what’s really going on?” Sarah couldn’t help asking. “How did you sign the contract? How did you even know Henry submitted a proposal?”

Even she was curious now. SN’s projects were notoriously impossible to land. How did Nina make it look so easy?

“Yeah, Nina,” Henry chimed in, looking baffled. “I went there around noon today. The receptionist grabbed my proposal before I could even talk to anyone in charge. I never saw you there, so how did you know about it?”

Nina pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling speechless. “I’ve told you guys I run SN, but you never take me seriously.”

The Swansons stared silently. ‘We’re supposed to believe a high school dropout raised by a nightclub hostess is the CEO of SN? We’d sooner believe pigs can fly,’ they thought.

“I got it,” Lily suddenly blurted. “Nina, are you the CEO’s mistress?”

Before Nina could respond, Lily exploded, “How could you do this? You’re engaged to Ryan. You’re making him look like a fool.”
