Chapter 388
Chapter 388
“No need to explain,” Nina said, cutting in. “This is your case. It’s better if you take care of it.”
“Nina,” Ryan’s voice dropped, sounding a little softer. “Don’t be upset.”
“I’m not upset,” Nina replied. She didn’t want to get into it with Ryan right now, so she headed straight over to the group kidnapped kids.
The Enforcement Squad had brought a doctor along, and as soon as the kids were rescued, the doctor had already treated them.
Most of the kids had already woken up. Some of the weaker kids were still unconscious.
Nina checked over the ones who hadn’t come yet. After confirming there were no serious issues, she finally let out a breath of relief. “Have you contacted their families?”
“Yes,” Ryan said. “Once they’ve given their statements to the Enforcement Squad, their folks can take them home.”
Nina nodded. “Alright, I’ll let you handle things here.”
As she turned to leave, Ryan grabbed her wrist. “Nina, you’re angry.”
Nina paused for a moment, then turned to face him. “Yeah, I’m angry, but not at you. I’m mad at myself.
“Because of my position, I have to sit on my hands and wait for Martin to make a move, while these innocent kids get hurt. “And what really gets me is that I always try to treat people with genuine kindness, but people never treat me the same way. I’m constantly watching my back, running through a dozen possibilities just to make sure I’m actually helping Scarlet.
“I’m angry that I’m totally in the dark about all this and powerless to change anything. And I hate that I have to spend so much of myself dealing with a piece of trash like Martin.”
Ryan squeezed Nina’s hand a little tighter. “I’m sorry.”
But those words sounded especially harsh to her.
She couldn’t hide her irritation and growled, “The last thing I want to hear is ‘I’m sorry.“” With that, Nina yanked her hand free from Ryan’s grip and hopped on her motorcycle.
Elaine didn’t say a word from start to finish. She just shot Ryan a look that was pure ice.
As Nina started up her bike, Elaine finally spoke, her face still coll. “So many people owe Nina, and now everyone just wants to say sorry? Is she supposed to forgive every single one of them just because they apologize?
“Ryan, you know what matters most to Nina. You’ve got your position, but don’t go telling her what to do.”
Ryan opened his mouth to say something, but Nina was already peeding off on her bike.
Tonight, Riverdale was in for a sleepless night.
Countless Enforcement Squad cars tore through the darkness, sirens blaring.
Nina didn’t bother dealing with the Enforcement Squad. Using Elaine’s tracking signal, she zeroed in on Martin’s car and was on his tail in no time.
Martin had dropped a ton of cash on a top–tier sports car, all for his escape plan.

Chapter 388
The sports car was fast, but it was no match for Nina’s motorcycle.
He’d barely made it into the downtown traffic when Nina was already on his tail.
Martin spotted Nina in his rearview mirror, and his face instantly darkened.
‘So I was right. Nina’s in with the Enforcement Squad, Martin thought. With that in mind, he floored it.
Nina cranked the throttle on her bike and blew past Martin in a flash.
She whipped her motorcycle into a slick drift, coming to a stop just ahead of Martin’s car.
Nina snapped her visor down and shouted to Elaine riding behind her. “Get ready to jump!”
