“Make sure those Crimson Syndicate bastards are locked down tight. I’ll handle this myself,” Nina said.

Black Wolf paused, looked like he wanted to say something, but just grunted, “Fine.”

He actually wanted to say, everyone in the Crimson Syndicate was a total outlaw. When their life was on the line, nothing else meant shit, let alone family. People like that didn’t give a damn about family.

But since Nina had made up her mind, he’d just follow orders.

Nina quickly gave Black Wolf his marching orders and ended the call.

Just as she was about to get up and head downstairs, her phone rang. It was Simon.

“Nina, bad news. The Midnight Club’s been shut down,” Simon said, his voice urgent. “The people from Betrico moved in fast. They didn’t even give me a chance to say a word.”

The Midnight Club was totally legit. It had all the legal permits and everything.

Sure, it looked like just another party spot, but most of the staff were actually covert operatives working for the like Moira and her girls.

government,

They’d go out on missions all the time and always came back without a scratch. Thanks to their cover identities, nobody ever suspected a thing.

Besides, Scarlet was the one who handled all the licenses and permits for the Midnight Club. Ever since it opened, the club had never once been shut down.

When Nina took over, she transferred and updated all the permits, and the authorities were in the loop about everything.

‘So how did it get shut down out of the blue, without even letting Simon get a word in?’ Nina wondered.

Nina’s eyes went cold. “I’m on my way.”

As soon as Nina came downstairs, Loren and Melody stood up, looking anxious. “Nina—”

But before they could finish, Nina interrupted, her tone cool and decisive, “Loren, I have things to take care of. You should both go home now.”

Loren tried to say something.

But Nina interrupted, “I’ve already got people tracking down Scarlet. There is no body, no proof that anything happened to her, so don’t stress over it.”

As soon as Nina finished speaking, she went straight to the Midnight Club.

When she got there, a bunch of uniformed officers were sealing up the Midnight Club, pasting closure notices on the doors.

Nina walked up to the nearest officer. “Which department are you with?”

The officer flashed his badge. “We’ve got orders from above to shut down the Midnight Club.”

After saying that, the officer sized Nina up and said, “You’re Nina right? Our boss wants to see you.

“Where?” Nina asked.

The officer pointed to an elderly man standing not far away. “Hes over there.”

Nina looked over. The old man was probably in his seventies, with salt-and-pepper hair, but he stood ramrod straight, radiating an unmistakable sense of integrity.

Nina composed herself, then walked over to the old man. “I’m Na.

The old man turned to face her, looked her up and down, and said, “I’m Wylder Quentin.”

As Wylder Quentin spoke, he handed her his credentials.

Nina took the credentials, her pupils contracting in shock.

Wylder was a figure of immense authority.

Nina handed the credentials back to Wylder, her expression cool and unyielding. Her tone was calm but firm as she asked, “Why are you shutting down the Midnight Club?”

Wylder said, his eyes sharp, “Ruby and her squad are suspected of leaking classified information. They’re officially wanted and being hunted down.

“Anyone at this club with ties to the case is going to be interrogated. And Iris, the one in the hospital? She’s already under our control.”

Nina’s expression turned grim. Before she could say anything, her phone started ringing. It was Philip calling.

“Nina, the Enforcement Squad just hauled Iris away,” Philip said, sounding anxious.
