The rage Nina had been holding back was now blazing inside he threatening to burst out.

She hung up and glared at Wylder. “Say that again. I dare you.”

“Ruby is suspected of leaking classified information-” Wylder started.

Before he could finish, Nina lunged at him.

But before Nina could lay a finger on Wylder, a man dressed in black stepped in and blocked her attack.

Wylder stared at Nina, his face calm. “Do you even know what you’re doing right now?”

“I know exactly what I’m doing!” Nina snapped. She didn’t hesitate and went for him again.

Wylder’s bodyguard swung a fist at her. The bodyguard moved with professional speed, his punch shooting straight for Nina’s stomach.

Nina swung back, socking him right in the face. But her punch just didn’t have enough oomph.

However, his blow knocked her back several steps. When she finally caught her balance, a metallic taste flooded her mouth.

She locked eyes with him, her gaze sharp. “Ancient martial arts, Huh?”

This wasn’t her first run-in with someone trained in ancient martial arts.

Wylder kept his cool, staring at Nina. “You were handpicked by us after rigorous screening. You’ve always nailed every mission they gave you. But today, you really let me down.”

“Let you down?” Nina scoffed. “Who are you to be disappointed in me? You sit up there on your high perch, tossing out orders and dismissing Scarlet and the others like it’s nothing. And now you want to talk to me about disappointment?”

There was no denying it. She was absolutely furious.

Scarlet and the others had been fighting in the shadows, risking operatives on the fringes, the kind the organization didn’t even

verything to finish their missions. They were just other to give a name.

“I’m not rejecting anyone,” Wylder said coolly. “There’s evidence hat Ruby leaked classified information.”

“Shut up!” Nina roared. “Say one more word, and I’ll kill you!”

Wylder frowned. “With what you’ve said today, I could easily have you charged with a crime.,”

“Fine! Arrest me! I don’t give a damn anymore!” Nina growled. “on’t talk to me about duty and patriotism. I have never let my country down. Every bit of research I’ve done, I donated to the state for free, not a single cent taken.

Nina snapped her head up, her eyes burning with a crimson glare.

Suddenly, she whipped out several needles. One flew straight at Wylder’s bodyguard, while another was aimed right at Wylder’s throat. Nina hissed, “You really think I won’t kill you?”

“Go ahead, I dare you!” Wylder’s expression didn’t even flicker. “But Ruby really did leak those secrets.”

Nina pressed the needle even harder against Wylder’s throat.

The bodyguard’s face drained of color. “Stop! Do you even realize what you’re doing? If you kill Wylder, you’ll die, too! Are you really going to risk your own life for a traitor?”

Nina didn’t even look at the bodyguard. She grabbed Wylder by the back and shoved him forward. “Come with me!”

She didn’t give Wylder a chance to speak. She hauled him off without a word.

Then Nina shot a look at Simon. “Go start the car!”

Simon didn’t even blink. He was out the door in a flash.

The bodyguard made a move to go after them, but found himself completely paralyzed.
