Landon Kingston suddenly scanned the crowd. His eyes lit up when he spotted his target, and he walked over to a frail- looking man, Jerry.

He led Jerry over to Martin and Matthew.

The guy with the iron rod immediately spread his arms to block their way. “My test isn’t finished yet. If you want to perform surgery, you’ll have to wait until I’m done with my test.”

“Let’s do it together,” Jerry said. The next second, he grabbed a scalpel and sliced open Martin and Matthew’s stomachs without hesitation.

He said, “These guys are good test subjects. Look at that, all their organs are pitch black.”

Waverly clapped a hand over her mouth, shaking all over. She never expected them to be this terrifying.

They literally sliced open Martin and Matthew’s stomachs right in front of her.

“Why don’t you join them?” someone with a sinister voice hissed right in Waverly’s ear.

Waverly screamed in terror, completely freaked out.

Her scream drew everyone’s attention right away, and one of them clapped his hands. “She’s another one Daddy brought in.”

Jerry frowned in frustration. “Damn, how could I miss her? I’m so stupid.”

“Stay away. I’m not with them. Just let me go,” Waverly shouted instinctively, but these lunatics didn’t care about logic or reason; there was no way to talk sense into them.

Waverly was grabbed and dumped right beside Martin.

Martin and Matthew were already out cold.

Sticky fluids and the unmistakable feel of exposed flesh triggered an overwhelming wave of nausea and terror that surged from the depths of her heart. She was so scared that she peed herself.

“Don’t touch her. She’s my wife. I want to sleep with her.” A blind man lunged at Waverly, pinning her down.

Waverly felt like she was being crushed, and no matter how hard she struggled, she couldn’t shake him off.

The man groped her frantically. “Babe, if you leave me again, I’ll swallow you whole. Please, don’t ever leave me again, okay?”

“Okay, I won’t leave,” Waverly said, her voice trembling.

Desperate to stay alive, Waverly didn’t dare move and tried her best to cooperate. She feared that the slightest mistake would make these lunatics cut her open, too.

The blind man suddenly barked, “What about our son?”

Waverly was stunned. “Our son is-”

Before she could get another word out, the blind man interrupted, his tone crazed. “Our boy is right there in your belly. Dr. Kingston, give me that scalpel.”

Chapter 408

Waverly tried to run in fear, but there was no way out.

The scalpel flashed and cut straight into her belly, cold and merciless.

She ended up just like Martin and Matthew.

The blind man started rummaging around inside her, his voice frantic. “What the hell? Where’s my son? What did you do with him?”

Waverly passed out from the pain, unable to respond.

As she was dying, she heard someone yelling, “There’s so much blood. Dr. Kingston, hurry and save my wife.”

“Your wife? That’s not your wife. That’s just someone Daddy dragged in,” another voice shouted.

“Then where did my wife go?” the blind man screamed. He roared, completely losing it, “Did you kill my wife? I’m gonna make you pay for what you did to her.”

He shook Waverly violently, but she was completely unconscious.

The entire ward was in chaos. In less than ten minutes, Waverly, Martin, and Matthew had been twisted and broken beyond recognition.

Harlan finally came over and hauled all three of them out.

Their stomachs had already been sewn back up. The sutures were so perfect that it was as if a painter had crafted a beautiful artwork across their stomachs, oddly pleasing to the eye.

The guy with glasses looked pleased as he admired his twisted masterpiece, but then he noticed something off and shook his head. “Not perfect yet. This stitch was done twice. What a pity.”

He just left Martin, Matthew, and Waverly lying there and walked off.

He thought, “The first day of The Gauntlet went well. Let these three poor little things rest for now. Then the real Gauntlet

starts.

Two days later, Waverly, Martin, and Matthew were covered in bruises and cuts. Their eyes had no sparkle left, and their heads had been shaved.

They had been dressed in the hospital’s patient uniforms, their faces and bodies covered with countless wounds.

When Nina walked in, she saw the other patients zapping them with electric shocks. The three of them were sprawled out on the beds, foaming at the mouth.

When Waverly saw Nina, it was like she’d just seen her only hope. She yelled, “Nina, please save me. I can’t take it anymore. I don’t want to stay here. I’ll do anything for you if you save me.”

Waverly’s voice was hoarse. In the last two days, she had screamed so many times that she couldn’t count.

Jerry had even shoved dead rats into her mouth, leaving her throat inflamed and raw.

Martin croaked, his voice just as wrecked as Waverly’s. “Nina?”

Then he gave a bitter, mocking laugh. “I must be dreaming. How could Nina possibly come here?”

He thought, ‘The Swanson family should completely belong to Nina, right? I should have realized sooner. She came back for revenge. She hates how Vivian abused her and how I despised her.

‘She worked so hard just to show us how amazing the girl we all thought was dumb really is. And now I get it’

Suddenly, Waverly yelled with everything she had, “It’s true. Nina is really here. See for yourself”

Right now, all Waverly wanted was to run straight to Nina; she was desperate to get out of this hellhole for good. However, her hands and feet were bound; she couldn’t move at all.

Martin and Matthew’s attention snapped to her as she shouted.

Nina stood at the doorway, dressed in black, her gaze icy and her entire presence exuding deadly authority.

Martin put all past grudges aside, crying out in desperation. “Nina, we share the same mother. Please get Matthew and me

out of here.”

Matthew was crying, too, begging, “Nina, please. I promise I’ll be good to you.”

Their faces were covered in tears, not because they felt sorry, but because they just wanted out of this nightmare.

Waverly tried to pin all her misery on Martin and Matthew, yelling, “Nina, don’t listen to them. They’re just trying to trick you. They never saw you as their real sister, not once.

“I’m your aunt. If you help me get out, I promise I’ll treat you just like my own daughter.”

She thought she had it all figured out. She just wanted to hide out here for a bit, but she didn’t expect that Martin and Matthew would end up here, too.

She thought if she hadn’t been with them, she wouldn’t have suffered so terribly at the hands of those lunatics.

Nina looked down at the three men from above and suddenly smiled. “Seems like you’ve done okay. Guess all the effort I put into setting you up hasn’t been wasted.”

Nina looked around, the smile at the corner of her mouth impossible to hide. “Do you like it?”
