‘Are these really my grandparents, the ones who used to spoil me rotten and wouldn’t let anything bad happen to me?’ Sophia wondered.
‘What did Nina do to make them so blatantly favor her?’ Sophia thought angrily.
The more Sophia thought about it, the more wronged she felt. She hit me, and now you want me to apologize? Why not just tell me to drop dead?”
‘No way am I ever apologizing to Nina, Sophia thought.
To her utter disbelief, Zachary and Maria spoke in perfect unison once more. “You must apologize!”
Sophia was so mad she could’ve cracked a tooth.
Nina spoke up, her voice cool and indifferent. “If the Fosters don’t want me here, then there’s no point in my staying. Goodbye, Grandpa Zachary, Grandma Maria.”
Maria immediately stepped in, looking anxious. “Nina, you can’t leave! Zachary and I went to all this trouble just to welcome you. Sophia, if you don’t apologize right now, do you want to face the family discipline?”
Sophia stood there, completely stunned.
‘Is this really my gentle, loving Grandma?’ Sophia thought.
Maria had always been on her side, no matter what.
But now, it was clear as day in Maria’s eyes that she was clearly protecting Nina now.
Sophia’s eyes rimmed with tears, feeling wronged, but she knew that if she didn’t apologize today, Maria really would bring down the family discipline.
Even though the Foster family had never actually carried out any family discipline before.
But Sophia had no doubt she’d be the first to get punished if it ever happened.
“I’m sorry,” Sophia muttered, even though she was reluctant and resentful.
No way did she want to be the Foster family’s first test subject for family punishment.
‘Just you wait. I’m not done with this yet,’ Sophia thought.
‘Nina wants to marry into the Foster family? She can keep dreaming!’ Sophia scoffed at herself.
‘As long as I’m around, there’s no way I’ll ever let a loser like Nina marry Ryan!’ Sophia vowed inwardly.
Maria gently took Nina’s hand. “Nina, Sophia’s just acting out. Don’t let it get to you.”
Nina glanced at Sophia, easily catching the hatred in her eyes, and just curled her lips into a faint smile. “No worries. I don’t waste my time arguing with kids.”
Maria breathed a sigh of relief, but before she could say anything, Nina added casually, “If she won’t behave, just teach her a lesson the hard way.”
Zachary just stared in silence.

Maria was speechless for a moment.
They shot Sophia a look full of sympathy, but honestly, neither of them saw anything wrong with what Nina said.
If a kid doesn’t listen, you gotta set them straight.
Maria asked the staff to get dinner started, then pulled Nina aside to talk privately.
She first asked how Sarah was doing lately, then the two of them chatted about all sorts of things.
Meanwhile, Sophia was completely ignored.
Sophia was so furious she couldn’t help but stomp her feet right where she stood.
Just then, a servant lugged a box in from outside.
Spotting Grandma Maria and Grandpa Zachary, the servant hurried over. “Grandma Maria, Grandpa Zachary, looks like someone sent another package for Ryan again!”
When Nina heard that, her expression darkened, and she headed straight over.
But it was the shipping label on the box that immediately drew Nina’s eye.
The label was smeared with blood, and the sender’s address was blurred and hard to read.
A strong sense of dread welled up inside Nina.
Nina turned to Zachary and Maria. “Grandma Maria, what happened to all those things people sent him before?”
Maria answered, “I had the staff move everything into his room
Before Nina could say a word, Sophia strutted over, puffing up like a bossy rooster. “You think you can just waltz into Ryan’s room? Are you still dreaming?”
Zachary and Maria might be fooled by Nina, but Sophia wasn’t buying it for a second.
She was sure Nina would stop at nothing to stay by Ryan’s side, just as Sophia suspected.
There was no way Sophia was going to let that happen.
Nina’s eyes turned icy. “Get out of my way.”
Nina’s patience had run out. She’d only held back out of respect for Ryan and Grandma Maria.
