“Just tell us already! What happened to Ryan? Is Nina the one doing the surgery right now?” Grace pressed, her anxiety spiking as Simon stayed silent.

Simon replied, “Nina’s the one operating, but it’s not Ryan who’s hurt; he hasn’t come back yet. We don’t know the full story: we’ll only find out once the patient wakes up.”

Simon glanced at Maria and the others. “Please, just stay quiet and let Nina work. Don’t disturb her during the surgery.”

When they realized it wasn’t Ryan inside, the four elders of the Foster family let out a huge sigh of relief.

Even though they were still worried about Ryan, they knew better than to disturb Nina right now.

The only way they’d get any news about Ryan was if Nina managed to save that guy.

Not long after, Wylder showed up with a group of people.

Simon’s guard went up the moment he saw Wylder arrive with a squad of uniformed men, but he still managed a smile. “Wylder, what’s all this about?”

Before Wylder could say a word, one of the men behind him flashed his badge. “We’re from a district hospital. We’re taking over the patient now. Please step aside.”

Simon’s face turned grim. “There’s a surgery going on right now Why are you trying to take the patient? Do you want him to die on your watch?”

“Orders from the higher-ups. Don’t get in the way of official business,” the man said, his tone stiff.

Simon ignored him and stared straight at Wylder. “Wylder, you know my boss’s skills; if anyone can save him, it’s her. If you drag him out now and he dies on the way, who’s going to answer for that?”

Wylder glanced at the man next to him and let out a heavy sigh. Orders are orders. My hands are tied.”

Wylder knew better than anyone that Nina was the Miracle Doctor. She was famous for pulling people back from the jaws of death. If anyone could save Zaire, it was her.

Suddenly, the higher-ups sent people over, insisting Zaire be handed off to a district hospital instead. Wylder tried to put up a fight, but it didn’t matter.

Simon let out a cold laugh. “Well, that’s just too bad. Your orders come from the top; mine come from my boss. She told me to stand guard here, and I’m not budging from this spot. So today, you’re not taking him anywhere!”

“You dare defy orders?” the man snapped, his face cold.

Wylder frowned. “Come on, Thomas, don’t make it sound so dramatic. He’s just trying to save someone.”

Thomas said gravely, “Wylder, I’m just following orders. Are you really going to go against them, too?”

“You!” Wilder snapped.

He was so furious, he nearly punched Thomas right then and there.

‘Does he really think I don’t see through why Thomas decided to show up at this exact moment? Wylder thought.
