Heiress Returns Family Shocks (Nina Swanson) novel Chapter 477

Chapter 477

Nina didn’t say anything else, just told her, “Go get ready for your wedding.”

Veda blinked, totally thrown off. “Are we really doing this?”

Nina lifted her brows, teasing, “You seriously want to be Ethan’s wife?”

Before Veda could respond, Nina cut in, “Forget it. Ethan’s only got room i

in his heart for Elaine.”

Veda was at a loss for words.

She didn’t mean it like that.

Veda ended up following Nina’s instructions and began preparing for the wedding, even though her heart wasn’t really in it.

Even though Nina hadn’t spelled it out, Veda could sense she had some kind of escape plan.

Nobody knew where Riggs and Zuri had taken Ethan, and they hadn’t been seen all afternoon.

Nobody knew where Ryan and Felix had gone either.

Meanwhile, Ryan and Felix were wandering around the village, checking things out.

When they got to the entrance to the back hills, the guys standing guard waved them off, telling them to scram, so they headed back the way they came.

“Mr. Foster, do you really think this is where we used to live?” Felix asked, frowning.

Ever since they woke up, they’d wandered around this village so many times they’d lost count.

But not a single thing here felt familiar to them.

Strangely enough, even though they couldn’t remember anything, Felix still knew the guy next to him was Ryan, and that he was someone really important to him.

Ryan remembered his name was Felix, too.

But there was a single name Ryan couldn’t rid himself of: Nina.

It was carved into his very bones; he could never, ever forget it.

Felix didn’t know who Nina was.

“No,” Ryan said, his brows drawn tight, face as cold and hard as stone.

Even though the Wilson family kept calling themselves his parents and sister, he didn’t feel a shred of real family warmth from them.

He didn’t have a single memory of growing up here, either.

Weirdly enough, it was the newcomers today, especially the girl with the icy expression, who gave him a sense of familiarity He just couldn’t figure out where he had seen her before.

“I don’t think this is where we used to live, either,” Felix said, frowning. “The way these villagers look at us is just wrong. It’s like…” He paused, searching for the right word. “Like wolves sizing up sheep.”

Chapter 477

‘Yeah, that’s exactly it, Felix thought.

Every time they walked through the village, the villagers stared at them like they were ready to eat them alive.

Even though he couldn’t remember anything, Felix just knew villagers weren’t supposed to be like this.

“No rush,” Ryan said, his gaze deep and thoughtful as he glanced toward the back hills. “This is way more complicated than it looks.

Sometimes, the things that were etched deep in your bones just couldn’t be changed.

It was like Ryan could feel there was some kind of mission waiting for him, even if he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

Every time he got close to the back hills, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was calling to him from back there, and something he just had to check out.

But Ryan still had injuries he couldn’t explain. They didn’t stop him from living his life as usual, but every night, pain that felt like it was tearing him apart would hit him out of nowhere.

It was like he was trapped in a living hell.

Riggs claimed he’d just taken a tumble in the back hills and gotten hurt.

Ryan didn’t buy it for a second.

Those wounds weren’t from a simple fall. They looked exactly like gunshot wounds.

He had no idea why the word “gun” kept popping into his head.

But somehow, that was exactly the feeling he got.

Ryan tore his gaze away, and when he looked up again, his eyes landed on the Wilson family.

He spoke slowly, “Maybe those newcomers can give us some answers.”

He had this feeling that the way that girl looked at him felt different, almost familiar.

It was like she knew him.

But they were definitely not from around here.

Ryan was determined to get to the bottom of it.
