Ryan remembered how those guys had passed out at the table before he left, and Riggs and Zuri had just said they were drunk.

He hadn’t thought much of it at the time.

But now, looking back, those three didn’t seem like they were just drunk.

Ryan’s expression changed, and he hurried toward the Wilson family’s place. “Come on, something might’ve happened to those guys.”

Felix quickly followed Ryan, and they rushed back to the Wilson family.

When Ryan arrived at the Wilson family’s place, Nina was putting makeup on Veda.

Seeing Nina standing there, perfectly fine, Ryan was momentarily stunned.

Nina turned around and looked at Ryan.

Their eyes met, and for a moment, neither of them said a word.

Veda hadn’t expected Ryan to come back so suddenly.

After all, these past few days, Ryan barely talked to them and spent most of his time wandering around the village.

Normally, he’d still be out in the village at this hour.

‘Why is he back at this time?’ Veda wondered.

Ryan stood there quietly for a while, then made his way over to Nina.

He stopped right in front of her. “Can I talk to you alone for a bit”

Nina blinked in surprise.

The Lifesaver Parasite would erase every memory a person has completely.

It was like their entire life got wiped clean, leaving nothing behind.

Normally, Ryan shouldn’t have any impression of her at all.

But seeing the way Ryan looked at her, Nina couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Did he actually remember something about me?”

Nina looked at Ryan, nodded, and then followed him into the yard.

Ryan watched Nina carefully. His instincts weren’t wrong that he couldn’t shake the feeling that he’d met her before.

Ryan paused, then asked, “Do you know me?”

“Yes,” Nina looked up at him, meeting his eyes. “I’m your girlfriend.”

Ryan froze for a second. “Girlfriend?”

‘Seriously? We were that close?’ he thought, still in shock.

But how come he didn’t remember his own girlfriend at all?

“That’s right.” Nina met Ryan’s gaze, speaking slowly and clearly Listen, your name is Ryan. I’m Nina. I’m your girlfriend. We’ve been together for two years. You went on a mission to Frontierland and got badly hurt.

“On your way back, your plane crashed, and the Wilson family saved you. There’s a Lifesaver Parasite inside you. That’s why you can’t remember anything.”

Ryan pressed his lips together. “Nina?”

Nina paused for a moment. “You’ve always called me that.”

Ryan didn’t say a word.

After a long silence, Ryan finally spoke, his voice a little rough. “Even though I can’t remember you, I trust you. I believe everything you say.”

He couldn’t explain it, but there was this voice in his head telling him Nina was someone he could trust.

Nina gave him a gentle smile. “I’m here to take you home.”

Seeing Nina’s smile, Ryan felt a sense of contentment wash over him. “Okay, I’ll go with you.”

“But we don’t have to rush. There’s still a bit of business to take care of here,” Nina added.

Nina paused for a moment, then asked, “Do you still have your martial arts?”

The Lifesaver Parasite would erase a person’s martial arts too.

But Ryan’s situation was a bit different.

Nina really didn’t know if Ryan still had his martial arts or not.

“Yeah, I still have,” Ryan replied.

Ryan had no recollection of his martial arts skills.

He just happened to discover he could fight by chance.

Nina nodded. “Have you noticed anything weird going on in the village lately?”

Ryan thought for a moment before answering, “Every day at around four in the morning, a few trucks drive into the village. The guys unload boxes and haul them up to the mountain out back.”

Every night, the pain was so bad he couldn’t sleep, so he’d sneak up to the rooftop in the middle of the night to train, just to take the edge off.

Maybe it was because everyone here knew that if you’ve got the lifesaver Parasite, you lose all your skills, so nobody bothered watching Ryan or Felix at all.

Or maybe, in their eyes, Ryan was just another fish on the chopping block, so nothing to worry about.

Either way, it meant Ryan could train up on the roof every night and nobody ever caught on.

Every time Ryan finished training, he’d feel a little better.
