Sarah glanced at her, saying nothing else.

Just like that, the recognition party was settled. No one objected, and no one even dared to.

Sarah had made herself crystal clear. Anyone who challenged her would be kicked out of the family. Nobody wanted to get booted over something so trivial.

After that, everyone ate in silence, stealing glances at Nina. The table was thick with tension and awkwardness.

Nina remained unfazed, calmly eating her meal. She couldn’t care less about the stares.

Suddenly, Ethan nudged her arm.

She looked up at him, her eyes silently asking, “What is it?”

Ethan signaled her to look at Vivian’s plate.

Nina glanced over. Even after all the drama, Vivian was eating with real appetite. Nina drew her gaze back and raised an eyebrow at Ethan.

Seeing her confusion, Ethan leaned in and whispered, “I snuck a little of my spit into her plate.”

Nina was speechless. ‘Well, that’s impressive.’

Ethan flashed a smug grin. “Pretty awesome, right? Felt good?”

Nina sipped her water, eyeing Vivian. Whether it was the delicious food or Ethan’s spit, Vivian was eating with a look of sheer contentment.

Nina coolly looked away and shot Ethan a thumbs-up. “Awesome!”

‘Only Ethan would pull something like this, she thought.

“Learned it all from you,” Ethan said, leaning back with a cocky grin. “If I hadn’t seen you pull these stunts as kids, I never would’ve known such a great way to get back at someone.”

Nina was at a loss for words.

Suddenly, it hit Ethan, and he said, “By the way, how many times did you spike her food back then? I remember at least five.”

Nina set her glass down, her voice calm. “Lost count.”

Whenever Vivian gave her a hard time, Nina would play innocent and serve her a special meal with her special ingredient.

She’d lost track of how many times Vivian had tormented her. So naturally, she had no idea how many meals she’d doctored

in return.

‘Probably half of Vivian’s stomach is filled with my spit, Nina thought, feeling an inexplicable urge to laugh.

Ethan spent the rest of the meal sneaking glances at Vivian, barely containing his laughter.

Nina occasionally joined in with a chuckle,

Vivian noticed they were laughing at her, but she couldn’t afford to blow up again. So, she just glared daggers at them.

After dinner, everyone went their separate ways.

Just as Nina was about to head upstairs and crash, Ethan slung an arm around her. “Hey, let’s go for a ride.

“Not going.” Nina refused instantly. She was exhausted and wanted nothing more than to sleep.

“Come on, I’ve been practicing on my motorcycle for days. I’m finally good enough to take you for a ride.

“I’ve got some guys meeting up for drinks tonight. You’ve been back a while, and I still haven’t introduced you to my boys. Let’s go.”

Nina was about to refuse, but Ethan’s eager face won her over. “Alright, let’s go,” she said.

Ethan always parked his motorcycle right in the middle of the yard, showing it off daily since Nina gave it to him.

He’d brag to anyone passing by, “Nina got me this.”

The other family branches were totally jealous. But they didn’t think it was Nina’s present; they assumed it was Ryan’s.

Ethan handed Nina a helmet and was about to start the bike when he suddenly noticed the people in the car ahead. He frowned, “Why are Hazel and Lily together?”

Nina followed his gaze and saw Hazel and Lily climbing into the same car. Feeling nothing strange, she asked, “What’s up?”

“Lily’s always trashed Aunt Joanna’s side of the family. She used to talk mad trash about Aunt Joanna.

“Hazel’s always seemed scared of Lily and never even talks to her. So why are they heading out together?” Ethan said, sounding puzzled.

After a brief pause, he shrugged it off. “Whatever, let’s go.”
