“Oh, really?” Nina snorted. She let go of the redhead’s hand and licked her away.

She shook off Lily, pulled out a knife, and slowly approached the redhead.

Crouching down, she traced the knife across the redhead’s face. So tell me, how exactly am I supposed to die?”

Lily’s face changed dramatically. “Nina, stop! That’s Miranda Hawthorne, the heiress of the Hawthorne family in Betrico. If you hurt her, the Hawthornes won’t spare you or our family,” she shouted, both fuming and panicked.

The Hawthorne family was a big name in Betrico. Miranda came from the fourth branch, and even though she was born out of wedlock, the family acknowledged her.

But she didn’t hold much status in the Hawthorne family. Honestly, she struggled to fit in there. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have shipped her off to Riverdale for school.

Miranda was a total deadbeat. All she did was fight and brawl all day. She didn’t have two Brian cells to rub together, but he loved showing off everywhere.

Lily never thought much of girls like her. But Miranda was Hawthorne blood, even if just barely. If Lily played her cards right, helping Miranda could mean serious future benefits.

With Betrico University on the horizon, Lily needed these rich kids as her stepping stones.

She’d been playing this chess game for years, gradually helping Miranda gain favor with the Hawthorne family’s head.

Now, Miranda was about to get called back home. Lily had to protect her, no matter what.

Nina turned, her icy gaze cutting through Lily. “The Hawthorne family?” she smirked, her lips curling into a meaningful smile.

Lily couldn’t read what was behind that smile. She raised her chin and said, “Yeah. The Hawthornes are leagues above us Swansons. Let her go, or they’ll crush you.”

“Oh?” Nina’s voice rose with mockery as she lazily tapped the knife against her palm, her smirk saying more than words ever could.

Lily thought Nina was finally scared. She straightened up, looking smug. “Looks like you do know fear. I figured nothing could shake you.

“You crossed Ms. Hawthorne, and you’ve been walking all over me in the family. If I don’t get payback today, I won’t sleep easy.”

Acold, vicious glint flashed across Lily’s face. “I’ll make you regret ever being born.”

Just then, a gang of guys burst into the club, each swinging a ste pipe. They started wrecking the place as soon as they entered, sending everyone scrambling.

The leading guy was Alex Carter, around twenty, strutted in wearing designer casual. One hand in his pocket, the other gripping a steel pipe, he sauntered over to Nina and the crew.

Spotting him, Lily dropped her tough act. Her cigarette was gon, tears streaming down her face as she put on her best damsel-in-distress look.

“Alex, you’re finally here. We almost got killed over here,” she so bed, wiping her tears.

Like Nina, Lily was stunning, but with a fragile, delicate vibe. Seeing her cry, Alex felt his heart clench.

Miranda shot to her feet and hurried to Alex’s side, pointing straight at Nina as she snapped angrily. “It was her.

“She split Lily’s head open for no reason. We tried defending Li, and she beat us to a pulp.”
