Heiress Returns Family Shocks (Nina Swanson) novel Chapter 63

Chapter 63

Chapter 63

Nina really did go easy on Miranda just now, just because she looked so much like Scarlet.

But honestly, she hadn’t really thought it through at the time. It was just that face that made her hold back.

Nina knew Scarlet had a daughter, and she was about the same ale as Miranda.

But that was all she knew.

She was raised by Scarlet, and honestly, both of them were kind of mysterious.

Scarlet never talked much about her personal life. She only said he had a daughter who was probably living a happy life somewhere.

Scarlet had never gone to see her daughter, and it was like she didn’t care about her at all.

Nina could always tell that Scarlet missed her daughter.

If Miranda really was Scarlet’s kid, there’s no way Nina could just ignore it. But she couldn’t just do whatever she wanted without thinking about what Scarlet wanted, either.

But right now, she couldn’t get ahold of Scarlet at all.

Nina was silent for a long time, and then she picked up her phone and dialed another number.

When the call connected, Nina introduced herself right away. “Mr. Hawthorne, it’s me, Nina.”

Edward Hawthorne was excited when he heard Nina’s voice. He shot up from his seat, his voice trembling with emotion. “Ms. Swanson? Is that really you?”

“Yeah,” Nina answered. “I’d like to ask you to keep an eye on someone for me. I’ll pay the Hawthorne family a visit soon.”

Edward paused. If Nina wanted to look after someone, she usually wouldn’t ask him to do it.

Everyone knew. If Nina had one’s back, nobody would dare lay a finger on them. ‘So why is she asking me? Does this person have something to do with the Hawthorne family?’ he thought.

“Who is it you’d like me to look after, Ms. Swanson?” he asked.

“Miranda Hawthorne,” said Nina.

Edward froze. “Her last name’s Hawthorne? Is she one of ours?”

How come I’ve never heard of anyone like that in the family? And she actually knows Nina?’ he thought, baffled.

Nina picked up her glass, took a slow sip, and said coolly, “You’ve been cooped up in that nursing home too long. Maybe it’s time to go home and see your own granddaughter. You really didn’t know?”

“My granddaughter?” Edward was completely thrown off. Then suddenly, it hit him. “Oh, you mean that kid.”

He recalled Miranda.

Over a decade ago, his fourth son, David, fell for a nightclub girl and was hell-bent on marrying her. But Elizabeth, his wife, wouldn’t let that woman set foot in the house.

Because of that, David threw a huge fit at home.

Chapter 63

For a while, the whole Hawthorne household was in turmoil.

But in the end, it was the nightclub girl herself who decided she didn’t want to marry into the Hawthorne family. So the whole mess just fizzled out.

After that, David never mentioned her again.

Later on, he brought home a girl, saying she was his daughter with the hostess from the club.

He really spoiled her at first.

But then, out of the blue, he brought back another girl, claiming this one was actually his real daughter with the woman he loved, and that Miranda was just a fake.

But when they did a paternity test, it turned out both girls were actually his.

He kept insisting Miranda wasn’t his kid with the hostess, but he couldn’t explain why the test said she was his daughter.

Once someone gets stuck in their own prejudice, there’s no turning back. After that, David grew to absolutely despise Miranda.

Edward actually liked Miranda. She was sweet, mature, and even more endearing than the other one.

When David tried to send Miranda away, Edward wanted to protect her. But David was so stubborn that they ended up in a huge argument, and Edward got so worked up that he had another heart attack.

By the time he came to, Miranda was already gone.

He had people search for her, but they couldn’t find her anywhere.

After that, he just moved into a nursing home and stopped caring about anything to do with the Hawthorne family.

“She’s in Riverdale. Mr. Hawthorne, I need you to get her back home and make sure she’s looked after,” Nina said.

“Before I show up at your place, I don’t want her getting hurt or pushed around. If anything happens to her, Mr. Hawthorne. you know what will happen,” she added.

Edward’s expression turned serious. “Don’t worry. I’ll head back to the Hawthorne residence right away and take charge. This time, I’ll look after her myself.”
