After ending his call, Edward dialed another number. “Come pick me up at the nursing home,” he said.

Soon, a fleet of luxury cars rolled up to the entrance of the nursing home.

Edward stood on the steps, his presence radiating authority as he looked down at the crowd gathered below.

His sons, daughters-in-law, daughters, grandkids, and wife were there.

“Dad, you finally decided to come home.” The eldest son, William, stepped forward. “The Hawthorne family is in a financial crisis. We need you to take the helm. If you don’t, the whole family is going to go under.”

The Hawthorne family had been struggling for years, going downhill year after year, and this year, things looked even more hopeless.

Ever since Edward moved into the nursing home, all their longtime business partners had cut ties with the Hawthorne family.

Edward had completely washed his hands of the family business

No matter how much they pleaded, he just wouldn’t leave the nursing home.

They’d been trying everything they could think of to get him to come home, and now, out of the blue, he was the one who decided to come back on his own.

Edward gave everyone a cold, sweeping look and said, “Get in the car.”

Then he climbed into the car without another word, completely gnoring the rest of them.

His sons exchanged glances and followed him back to the family estate.

Once they arrived at the Hawthorne residence, Edward strode straight to the head of the table and took his seat.

His sons and daughters-in-law took their seats on either side of him.

The grandkids found seats wherever they could.

The butler immediately poured Edward a cup of coffee.

Edward didn’t say a word, and the air was thick with tension.

Finally, Elizabeth spoke up. “So, you finally changed your mind and decided to come back? Didn’t you say you’d never return to this family for the rest of your life?”

Elizabeth still held a lot of resentment toward Edward.

All these years, he’d been living at the nursing home, turning a deaf ear to everything happening at home just because David got rid of Miranda back then.

She just couldn’t figure out why he cared so much about the chill of some nightclub hostess with no status.

Edward cast her a cold glance. “What? Are you disappointed that I’m back?”

Elizabeth’s expression froze. “Not at all.”

Edward gave a cold snort, didn’t bother with her any further, and turned his attention to the rest of the family.

He picked up his cup and took a slow sip, his presence commanding. “William, wrap up the projects you’re handling. Starting tomorrow, I’m taking full control of the company.”

William was stunned for a moment. “Dad, what do you

mean?”

Is he taking back control? William thought.

Edward didn’t even look at William. “I’ll go to Riverdale myself and bring Miranda home. From now on, I’ll personally

mentor her.”

As soon as Edward said that, the whole room erupted.

Elizabeth was the first to protest. “No way. Miranda is nothing but an illegitimate child. Who knows what kind of woman her mother was? If you bring her back, you’ll only bring shame to the Hawthorne family.”

David frowned. “Dad, I don’t even know who Miranda’s mother. I’ve already done my part by giving her money.

“I won’t agree to bring her back. My only daughter is Emily. Miranda will never be family to me.”

Edward slammed his cup down on the table with a loud bang. “If you don’t agree, then get the hell out.”

He looked up, his sharp eyes sweeping over Elizabeth and David, “I built this family from the ground up. You two don’t get to call the shots here.”
