Ethan handed Elaine’s card back. He was quiet for a long momem, then suddenly leaned in close to Nina and whispered. “Hey, Nina, can I borrow that 5 million?”

Ethan gave an awkward grin. “I do. I just thought you were using Ryan’s money before. Now that I know you’re the boss of Midnight Club, it’s all yours for real.

“I really need it, like, really, really need it. I’ll pay you back with interest, okay? Five years, principal and interest, I swear.” He’d been so stressed about money lately, he was practically going gray.

When Nina handed him that 5 million, he was so thrilled he could barely contain himself. But even with all that excitement, he knew he really shouldn’t accept it. Because that money belonged to Ryan.

But since it wasn’t Ryan’s, but his sister’s, he finally felt comfortable asking for it. Of course, he felt embarrassed taking money from Nina, but he really had no choice.

He, Kevin, Eric, and Leo had started a software company together, and they’d already sunk 300 thousand into it just to get things off the ground.

That 800 thousand was all the money he’d managed to save up from his living expenses over the years.

Sure, he looked like the Swanson family’s golden boy, but ever since high school, his monthly allowance had been a measly

Whenever he saw something he really wanted, he just couldn’t bring himself to buy it. Little by little, after all these years, he’d only managed to save up about 120 thousand.

The rest were from college side gigs and some cash his grandmagave him. After adding it all up, he’d scraped together just about 300 thousand.

But when they kicked off the startup, 300 thousand disappeared before they even saw a ripple. Once they did the math, they realized they’d need a whopping 10 million to actually finish developing the software.

Elaine just dropped 6 million for Nina, and with the 5 million Na already put up, they finally had enough to cover the investment and keep the company running.

If he wasn’t totally out of cash, he’d never have the guts to ask Nina for money. Nina paused for a second, then, without another word, whipped out her phone. ‘Give me your account number.

Ethan blinked, confused. Wait, didn’t she just give me a card? Why does she need my account number now? Seriously, what’s with needing my account number all of a sudden? Ethan thought, scratching his head.

Still, he rattled off the number. Two minutes later, Ethan’s phone buzzed with a notification. He picked it up, and his hands nearly slipped.

Ethan rubbed his eyes, half convinced he was dreaming. “30 million?”

Am I dreaming or what?’ Ethan thought, still in shock.

Nina set her phone down on the table, cool as ever. Take it and use it. If it’s not enough, just say the word. Anything else, maybe not, but money? You’ll never run out.”

She didn’t even ask what it was for. She just trusted her brother.

Who talks like that? I might not have much else, but money? If anyone else heard her say that, they’d probably want to smack her. That’s some serious flexing right there, Ethan thought, still in shock

Ethan suddenly got worried. You gave me all your cash. Are you sure you’ve got enough left for yourself?” he asked.

Before Nina could even get a word out, Elaine suddenly let out a cold laugh. “She’s got more money on that card than she can count. Are you seriously worried about her not having enough? Our little Nina here is loaded.”

Ethan drew in a sharp breath. She can’t even count all the money on that card? What kind of legendary place is this Midnight Club, anyway? Isn’t it just a regular club? How the hell does it make that much money?

Who is Scarlet, the woman who took Nina in? Is she some kind of miracle worker or what? I want to get adopted too, Ethan thought, half joking, half dead serious.

While Ethan was still reeling from the insane amount in Nina’s account, Ryan suddenly set down his glass and got to his feet. “Come on, let’s go hit up the Swanson residence and get reimbursed for everything we spent today.”
