“Seriously? Nina bullied by Lily?’ James thought, his face full of sbelief. Sure, he didn’t like Lily, but he wasn’t stupid.
“Your precious daughter Lily rounded up a bunch of mean girls and that Carter kid to ambush Nina at the nightclub. If I hadn’t shown up in time, Nina probably wouldn’t have made it out alive,” Ryan said coldly.
Nina shot Ryan a sideways glance, her lips parting as if she wanted to say something, but in the end, she just kept quiet.
Fine. Ryan being shameless? I’d seen it plenty of times before, Nina thought.
Ryan’s voice was flat. “I already settled the score with the Carter family for what they did to Nina. Now it’s the Swanson family’s turn.”
James’s frown deepened. He felt like he was listening to a complete joke.
‘Lily, leading a bunch of girls to ambush Nina at a nightclub? Are you kidding me?
‘Lily had been raised by Vivian to be a proper young lady. She would never set foot in a nightclub. Besides, all her friends were rich heiresses. She didn’t even know any bad girls or troublemakers, James thought.
But Ryan’s face showed he wasn’t joking around at all. James was silent for a moment, then turned to Lily, his voice cold. “Just what happened? Tell me the truth.”
As soon as Lily met James’s eyes, she instinctively shrank back behind Vivian. Vivian immediately stepped in, shielding Lily like a mother hen.
She snapped, “Why are you grilling Lily? Don’t you know what kind of person she is? Ryan and Nina are in cahoots. They just can’t stand Lily. If you won’t stand up for her, at least don’t make her explain herself.
“What’s there to explain? Even if she didn’t do anything, Ryan and Nina will just make up some evidence against her anyway.”
James shot Vivian a cold look, a hint of irritation in his voice. “I didn’t ask you.”
Vivian snapped, “You.”
She was about to fire back, but James didn’t even bother with her He turned to Lily, his tone icy. “Think hard. If you don’t tell me the truth about what happened, then pack your things and get out of this house.”
Lily’s voice shook as she stammered, “Dad, I.” Lily was terrified. She never thought Ryan would actually haul her back to the Swanson residence to make her pay.
There was no way she could hide what happened at the club. She thought, ‘If Dad and Grandma found out, there’s no way I could stay in the Swanson residence.
The Swanson family is my last lifeline. If I get kicked out, I’d be otally screwed with nowhere to turn.
Lily’s face went white as a sheet. Just as she was frantically trying to come up with an explanation, Sarah’s voice rang out. “What’s going on here?”
Sarah was a light sleeper, so the commotion downstairs woke he up right away. But being old, it took her a while to get moving, so she was only just coming down now.
Nina saw the exhaustion in Sarah’s eyes and gave Ryan a hard kik in the leg. ‘Damn it, you woke Grandma up, Nina thought inwardly.
She’d already told him to get lost at the club. Lily’s mess was no of his business. But he just had to come here and demand

Ryan barely reacted when Nina kicked him. He just calmly brushed the dust off his pants, not feeling even a hint of guilt for waking Sarah up.
Ryan thought, Bully Nina? Honestly, even my own grandma would get out of bed to back Nina up right now!
Maria was speechless.
Nina ignored Ryan completely and went over to help Sarah. ‘Grandma.”
Sarah patted Nina’s hand and smiled softly. “Come on, tell Grandma. What happened here?”
She wasn’t blind. With all the commotion and Lily looking like she’d been through a war, it was clear Lily had tried to mess with Nina again, but this time she got exactly what she deserved
