With Sarah’s reply, Richard finally let out a long sigh of relief; he could finally breathe easy.

He exchanged a few polite words with Sarah, then took Alex with him and headed out.

Once Alex was gone, everyone in the Swanson family finally snaped back to reality.

Sarah grabbed Nina’s hand with a smile. “Nina, is there something going on between you and Ryan?” Sarah only knew that Ryan had targeted the Carter family yesterday.

But Sarah never expected his moves to be so powerful; he almos wiped out the Carter family overnight.

And when it came down to the family’s survival, Richard didn’t go begging Ryan; he went straight to Nina.

The wildest thing is, Ryan actually did what Nina told him.

From the way things looked, Ryan really treated Nina like she was his most precious treasure; he wouldn’t let anything bad happen to her, not even a little bit.

‘He’s got the looks, the money, the status, and he’s crazy about Nina. Seriously, who wouldn’t fall for a guy like that?’ Sarah wondered.

But whenever Nina glanced at Ryan, all one could see was how annoyed she was.

Sarah just couldn’t figure it out.

Nina stepped forward and took Sarah’s hand. “He’s always medding. Grandma, let’s go eat.”

Nina really didn’t want to talk to Sarah about her and Ryan.

She could tell that even though Sarah respected her decisions about marriage, she was actually very pleased with Ryan.

In Sarah’s eyes, when it came to status and background, Ryan was the only real option on the other side.

Of course, Ryan really was a solid choice for a life partner.

If it weren’t for what happened, she and Ryan would’ve been getting engaged by the end of the year.

But if someone betrayed her, there were no second chances; she was done for good.

One of them quickly stepped up and called out to Nina, “Nina, you’re misunderstanding Ryan; he never cheated on you.”

Nina stopped in her tracks and turned to look at the man who had spoken.

His name was Jason Rivers, one of Ryan’s closest friends.

He was from the Rivers family in Betrico.

Nina looked at him, expressionless, not bothering to say a word.

Sarah gave Jason a quick once-over, hesitated briefly, then turned to the rest of the Swanson family. “Let’s go inside.”

Clearly, there was a real misunderstanding between Ryan and Nina.

If only they could sort things out, that’d be perfect.

The rest of the Swanson family was itching to hear the drama, but with Sarah calling the shots, nobody dared hang around outside; they all trailed after her inside.

Once the rest of the Swanson family had gone inside, Jason rushed up to Nina, clearly desperate to explain. “It wasn’t Ryan who was there that day.”

Before Nina could say anything, Jason rushed out, “Claire tried to kill herself. She’d lost the will to live. I-I was out of options, so I had to ask Ryan for help.”

Jason’s voice was shaky, almost breaking. “She’s crazy about Ryan he’s the only one she listens to. I just couldn’t let her die, so I begged Ryan to say he liked her, just to calm her down. But He wouldn’t do it.

“I was desperate, so I came up with a dumb idea. I found a master of disguise to make me look like Ryan, and you know I’m good at mimicking voices, so all those things you heard were me pretending to be him.”

“Nina, you’ve really misunderstood Ryan. He never betrayed you” Jason said earnestly.
