“Sure, all your clothes are custom-made by Lanelle, but you’re my daughter. I should be the one getting those for you.”

James glanced at Nina. “And it’s not just clothes. If you need a ca or anything else, go ahead and get whatever you need. If you run out of money, just let me know.”

Before Nina could say anything, James added, “I know you’ve got Ryan, and with how much he spoils you, you could have anything you want.

“But this is just me wanting to do something for you. Please, don turn me down.”

Nina stared at the card for a long time, then snorted, “Dad, are you trying to make up for not being there as a father for the past twenty years?”

James’s face froze.

She meant all those years without a dad.

She was laying it all out; he’d never liked his kids, not since the day they were born.

James stayed quiet for a long time before finally sighing, “I’m not here to make up for the past, just trying to do my job as a

dad.”

Nina smirked. “Funny how status and money work, huh? Once you have them, everyone suddenly acts like they care.”

She gave everyone at the table a sarcastic once-over.

No one ever believed that a girl raised by a club hostess could actually be capable of anything.

He was just acting on what Sarah said yesterday.
