With that in mind, Julian said, “Since we’re at the Gemstone Exchange, how about we have a gemstone-picking contest? The loser has to do a strip dance in front of everyone.”

As he spoke, Julian looked Nina up and down, not even bothering to hide the desire in his eyes.

He teased, “You grew up around club girls, so stripping must be second nature to you, right? Perfect. I haven’t hit up a club in ages, so today I get a free show. Let’s see how Miss Swanson look when she strips down.”

Nina, having grown up with club girls, probably didn’t know the first thing about gemstone-picking.

If she lost, there was no way she’d have the guts to strip in front of everyone.

If she actually went through with it and embarrassed the Swanson family, they’d never let her live it down.

‘If she tried to back out of the bet, I would just make her spend the night with him instead,’ Julian wondered. ‘No matter what, the Swanson family is bound to make a fool of itself.”

If things went south, they might even kick Nina out for good.

That way, Julian would be avenging Martin and Lily, giving them some payback.

Plus, Nina had a smoking hot body; he was already fantasizing about her doing that strip dance.

Elaine had been surprised Nina was suddenly in the mood to humor Julian, but when she heard his challenge, she couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

‘Damn, I’ve seen a lot, but this is the first time someone’s throwing down the gauntlet right in front of Nina, Elaine thought. ‘He actually wants to gemstone-picking with Nina? The loser has to do a strip dance? For real?’

‘Is Julian out of his mind? Showing up early just to get wrecked? Elaine thought.

Nina laughed, too. “Alright, how do we play?”

‘Maybe Grandma’s advice about not solving everything with my fists isn’t so bad after all,’ Nina thought.

“We each pick out five gemstones. Whoever’s haul is worth more wins,” Julian declared, full of swagger.

He’d been in the gemstone-picking game for years; this was his turf.

Victory was basically in the bag for him.

Nina borrowed a hairpin from Elaine, pinned her hair up with a lazy flick, and said, “Alright, I’m in.”

As soon as she finished, Nina’s eyes went cold. “Remember, don’t even think about welching on a bet. Nobody’s ever dared to go back on their word with me.”

Julian let out a cold laugh. “Whoever welches is a coward. But you? If you lose, you’d better not try to back out. If you do, I’ll make the Swanson family pay for it.”

In the crowd, Martin’s eyes were sharp as he stared at Nina.

Ever since Nina came back, he’d been holding in all the crap she put him through. Now, he finally had a chance to get

even.

‘Nina, you better not let me down, Martin thought. I can’t wait see you get kicked out of the house.”

Nina’s gaze swept over the crowd, landing on Martin for just a couple of seconds before she looked away, her voice cool and indifferent. “Let’s get started.”

With that, Nina headed straight for the gemstones.

She moved so fast, barely even thinking. She just walked into the nearest shop and pointed at five gemstones without even pausing to think.

In less than three minutes, Nina and Elaine were already lounging in chairs by the shop entrance, looking totally unbothered as they watched Julian.

Julian was totally thrown off by Nina’s move. He twitched his lips after a long moment, raising an eyebrow. “You’re done already? What? Figured you’re gonna lose, so you’re just throwing in the towel?”

Right then, Nina’s phone buzzed. She pulled it out, replied to the message, and didn’t even spare Julian a glance. “Winning against you is all I need.”

Out of all the gemstones in this batch, only ten were actually good.

The five she picked were the absolute cream of the crop.

About the other five, the best one was worth 3 million, tops.

Put all five of his together, and they still don’t come close to the value of just one of hers.

Winning him was a piece of cake.

“Playing tough, huh? Let me show you how you’re gonna crash and burn,” Julian sneered.

Julian didn’t waste any time; he went straight for the gemstones he’d been eyeing.

He’d been eyeing these gemstones for a while, worried Nina might snatch one up. But to his surprise, she didn’t pick any of them at all.

Julian swaggered over with his picks, grinning cockily. “Let’s appraise mines first,” he declared.

Convinced he had the winning hand, he insisted on going first.

He wanted to shatter Nina’s confidence from the very beginning
