Her Divorce, His Downfall (Sophia and Damian) novel Chapter 67

Chapter 67

“Don’t kill me!” Isabelle screamed, her face drained of all color.

Damian’s heart lurched. He waved his hand, signaling his bodyguards to retreat outside the warehouse.

The door slammed shut with a resounding bang. Only then did the man loosen his grip on the knife slightly.

He let out a cold snort, his gaze sweeping between Damian and

the two women.

“Mr. Hall, I never would’ve pegged someone as cold as you for being such a player. Left arm, right arm-quite the collection. you’ve got there.”

“Too bad I’m not in the mood for a show today. Rules are simple: you can only take one. So, what’s it gonna be? Who do you choose?”

Damian clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles went white. The coldness in his eyes intensified, transforming him into something demonic, radiating pure menace.

“Damian…” Isabelle’s voice broke through her tears. Despite trembling with terror, she managed to sob with heartbreaking sincerity. “Take my sister! Don’t worry about me—I’ll be fine. Even if I die here today, I’ll still bless you and her.”

Her pitiful cries tortured Damian’s already frayed nerves.

He closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, his gaze fell on Sophia, who had remained silent throughout the ordeal.

She stood there in a thin hospital gown, her exposed wrist raw and bleeding-rope burns from when he’d tied her up earlier while searching for Isabelle.

It must hurt like hell.

Yet she hadn’t even flinched. Those bloodshot eyes held a frost so deep it seemed ready to spill over and drown him completely.

Something twisted violently in his chest, making it impossible to

breathe.

Damian took two steps toward her. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he struggled to find his voice, each word seeming to drain him completely:

“I’m sorry, Sophia… Isabelle’s always been fragile. She can’t handle this kind of trauma. She’s your sister-I have to save her first. You understand, don’t you?”

The moment he approached, Sophia stepped back, as if avoiding a plague.

She looked at him and suddenly let out a low laugh.

“Damian,” she said, enunciating each syllable clearly, “you make me sick.”

The words hit him like a physical blow. All color drained from his face, his expression shifting through emotions too complex to

read.

He whirled toward the knife-wielding man, pointing at Sophia. His voice returned to its icy tone:

“Take her. But if you so much as touch a hair on her head, if you hurt her even slightly-”

He paused, his eyes blazing with murderous intent. “I will make you wish you were dead. Your entire family will pay with their lives.”

“My family?” The man threw back his head and howled with laughter, as if he’d heard the world’s greatest joke.

When his laughter died, his face contorted with twisted hatred:

“I’m already living a fate worse than death! Damian, you’re the one who should be dead! That loan I applied for-I had collateral, good property. One word from you and it would’ve been approved! But you refused!

“Because of you, my entire cash flow collapsed! Projects went under nationwide, homeowners sued for refunds, suppliers hounded me for payment, creditors camped outside my door every damn day.

“My mother was so terrified she had a heart attack and died! My wife ran off with another man! My house, my cars, my company -all seized. Now I’ve lost everything, my family’s destroyed, and І have nothing left! What family do you think you can threaten me with?”

“Calm down!” Damian kept his voice steady while rapidly scanning the area for anything he could use as a weapon. “You want money? Name your price. Let her go, and I’ll have it transferred immediately.”

“Money?” The man’s grin was grotesque, his eyes bloodshot. “What good is money to me now? My mother’s never coming back. My wife’s never coming back. Damian, today I’m going to make you taste what it’s like to lose what you love most! We’re all going to hell together!”

Before the words fully left his mouth, he yanked out a lighter. Click-a flame sparked to life. Without hesitation, he hurled it toward a pile of cardboard boxes nearby.

Whoosh! The flame hit the boxes and erupted.

licking hungrily at the air, spreading with terrifying speed.

BOOM!

A deafening explosion suddenly shattered the air!

Only then did Damian and the others realize the boxes were packed with fireworks.

The ignited fireworks shot wildly in every direction, fireballs scattering like deadly confetti. The warehouse shook violently under the barrage of explosions. Shelving units toppled over, broken steel beams crashed down from above.

“Run! Let’s see where you can run to! I doused this whole place in gasoline-nobody’s getting out alive!”
