:

Celia sat next to Sylvia, a faint smile playing on her lips.

She inherited Sylvia’s beauty. With the Fate-Reversal Enchantment, she’d been feeding off Vivian’s Fortune for years, even beginning to resemble Flora. That was why no one had ever suspected her true parentage,

“Celia, Vivian’s left the manor. We can’t waste time,” Sylvia said.

If it weren’t so complicated to take Vivian’s blood inside Aurea Manor, they wouldn’t have needed such elaborate scheming.

“Mom, don’t worry. I know exactly what I’m doing,” Celia said, walking to the window. She picked up scissors and began trimming lavender.

She’d brought in the best ally possible. There was no way that person would let her down.

‘Six years ago, I was the daughter praised by the Queen Mother. Six years later, I’ll still be the paragon of filial piety,’ she thought.

The Aurea Manor carriage stopped at the silk shop on Maple Street.

A veiled lady stepped out and looked at the woman holding a wailing child.

“Your embroiderer hurt my son. He’s bleeding, writhing in pain. You need to explain,” the woman shouted.

The veiled lady checked the boy’s neck wound, which was from an embroidery needle. “Where’s the needle?”

she asked.

The woman pulled out the needle that was still stained with blood.

The veiled lady examined it and shook her head. “This isn’t from our shop. Our needles have a floral design etched at the end. This one’s plain.”

“Your family is powerful and loaded, and you still want to deny this?” the woman shouted, her voice hoarse.

“If you don’t believe me, go file a complaint with the authorities. Let the officials decide,” the veiled lady replied calmly.

In this era, people avoided lawsuits. Just mentioning officials made most break into a cold sweat.

Besides, this woman wasn’t exactly honest; she had taken Sylvia’s money to cause trouble.

Upon hearing the veiled lady’s words, she turned deathly pale on the spot, her legs shaking like jelly.

“Forget it. Just watch your business from now on.” She scooped up her child and bolted.

The veiled lady called out, “That woman’s trying to smear our silk shop. Everyone, see the truth and don’t be

fooled.”

The crowd erupted into whispers.

“Maybe that woman was really here to scam Lady Vivian. Why’d she run the moment authorities were mentioned?”

“I only heard Lady Celia was talented and filial. Didn’t expect Lady Vivian to be pretty sharp too.”

“Lady Vivian always keeps to herself. Nobody knows what she looks like under that veil.”

“Lady Celia’s the Belle of Aurestus. Lady Vivian must be just as stunning.”

“Well, I heard from a relative who works at Aurea Manor that Lady Vivian is disfigured, so ugly she never shows her face.”

Amid the gossip, the veiled lady climbed into the carriage and left.

Just as the carriage turned from the alley, things went sideways. The coachman, replaced unnoticed, cracked the whip, speeding away from Aurea Manor.

The coachman didn’t realize the passenger wasn’t fazed, instead fixing him with a cold, piercing stare.

She pulled back the veil, revealing a scarred left cheek. Her face wasn’t Vivian’s. It was Judith.

Before leaving, Vivian had given Judith countless instructions: watch the boy’s injury and needle markings carefully. If anything seemed suspicious, mention calling the authorities, which was enough to scare off the woman trying to scam them.

Judith had been skeptical, but what happened proved Vivian had incredible foresight.

She not only sorted out the silk shop mess but saw through the carriage plot.

Judith was a real killer, tough as nails. Ordinary people were no match. She could bail from the carriage

without a trace.

But Vivian had a plan, so Judith played along.

Fifteen minutes later, the carriage turned into a narrow alley. The coachman checked no one was watching, then roughly dragged Judith out.

“Make a sound, and I’ll kill you,” he threatened.

Judith acted terrified, nodding repeatedly.

The coachman was a handsome young man, lean with a brooding vibe.

He shoved Judith into a woodshed and chopped her neck. Judith pretended to faint instantly.

Following Celia’s instructions, he took a dagger, slashed Judith’s limbs, and collected her blood in a porcelain

bottle.

Before leaving, he pulled back the veil on Judith’s hat and looked at her ordinary face, frowning.

Then his eyes moved to the scar on her left cheek, and his doubts vanished-this was Vivian.

Once footsteps faded, Judith, who’d been faking, snapped her eyes open, sharp and focused.

She didn’t really know why Vivian wanted her to go through all this. As a trained killer, Judith would never disobey.

She quickly wrapped her wounds, pulled her veil back on, and returned to Aurea Manor.

Later, Vivian deliberately passed Celia’s courtyard, looking pale.

As Celia saw Vivian limping forward with bloodstained sleeves, her smile grew wider.

“Mom, I told you this would work. See, here’s her blood,” Celia said, shaking the porcelain bottle.

Inside, fresh blood hadn’t even started to clot, which was the key to maintaining Celia’s perfect daughter reputation.

Sylvia’s eyes were red, her voice rough. “You have to bleed yourself again.”

No mother could watch her child suffer, and Sylvia was no different. Her heart ached, but she had no choice.

Six years ago, the Queen Mother’s praise had put Celia on top. It looked perfect, but was a powder keg ready to explode.

If Celia didn’t shed her blood for Flora this time, she’d fall from model daughter to ultimate disgrace.

Her reputation would be destroyed. The Queen Mother, who valued family honor, would abandon her. The higher she’d been praised, the harder she’d fall.

Compared to that, a little pain and some wounds were nothing.

“Mom, don’t worry. I’m stronger than most girls. If I get hurt, I’ll heal fast without a scar,” Celia said softly.

She was incredibly pleased with herself. She had extraordinary beauty, stunning talent, a healthy body, and noble birth.

‘I can marry a prince easily. Hell, I can even be queen, standing above everyone,’ Celia thought, her smirk growing cockier by the second.

She picked up a dagger, heated the blade over fire to sterilize it, and then pressed it against her wrist.

Without hesitation, she slashed. Instantly, blood gushed in thick, crimson streams.

Sylvia caught the blood in a porcelain bowl, her tears falling silently.

‘Flora looks fine most days. How come she suddenly drops like that? She even needs blood from her flesh and blood to get better. What’s the difference between her and a leech?’ Sylvia thought bitterly.

“Mom, don’t cry. It doesn’t hurt,” Celia said, pale but trying to reassure Sylvia. “I’ll do anything to reach our goal. This sacrifice is no big deal.”
