Her Hidden Hero from the Unwritten Page novel Chapter 45

She couldn't afford to replace the dress or pay the cash. Rhea looked at Herbert pleadingly.

With her innocent face and teary eyes practically begging for help, no man could resist playing the hero. His protective instincts surged.

Looking at Winona's aggressive stance, he spoke up. "Winona, leave her alone. Enough is enough."

Winona clicked her tongue. "Sure thing."

Crossing her arms, she turned to him. "How about you pay it for her? We both know she doesn't have the money."

Rhea let out a soft sob. "I couldn't do that."

"If he can't, then you pay it." Winona looked incredibly accommodating.

Rhea had nothing to say to that.

Herbert gritted his teeth. "I'll transfer it to you tonight. Send me your bank details."

"Perfect!" Winona gave him a big thumbs up. "Mr. Xavier is so handsome and generous."

Having secured the money, she promptly got out of their way.

Winona suffered through the morning classes. At noon, she and Melody ate in the cafeteria.

Today's special was a chicken casserole. The pot bubbled away on the table as Melody returned with two bottles of soda. Winona was staring intently at her phone.

Sitting next to her, Melody asked curiously, "What are you watching? You look completely absorbed."

"A livestream." Winona smiled, taking an ice-cold cola from her.

"What kind of livestream?" Melody leaned in to peek.

It was a young girl in a Lakeside High uniform, hair tied in a ponytail, looking incredibly pure and innocent.

She squinted. "She looks really familiar."
