Lore interrupted Gilbert’s thoughts. “Yeah! Who does she think she is? What’s wrong with criticizing to her? The netizens are making a fuss over nothing. If they could marry into the Bode family, they’d fight over cleaning toilets all day!”

“Exactly. She does nothing anyway. She was just a useless piece of trash. We just made her valuable. Otherwise, she would stay home doing nothing!”

“Enough!” Gilbert roared, startling them.

Gilbert said, “It seems you don’t realize you were wrong. I won’t take this news down. You two just see how the people criticize you! They can tell whether you’re right or wrong.”

Their faces changed drastically. “No way!”

Gilbert hung up the phone and prepared to go to the hospital to see Sherry.

He wanted to admit he was wrong.

He had always considered the bigger picture. He hadn’t expected Sherry to suffer so much. He had to make amends. Thankfully, he only made a wrong choice regarding Cathy and Lore. It wasn’t unforgivable!

He arrived at the hospital to find the Campbells there. Their words chilled him to the bone!

“What did you mean by that? Teresa wasn’t punished?”

Gilbert stared at them in disbelief, his gaze finally settling on Edward.

“You promised me you’d make sure Teresa received proper punishment. That’s why I destroyed the camera!”

Edward felt conflicted. “Teresa was traumatized and weak. I was afraid she wouldn’t be able to handle the punishment. If something happened to her, I was afraid they’d blame Sherry. I was thinking of Sherry.”

Such a familiar excuse. He hadn’t felt wrong when he said it to Sherry.

But hearing it from someone else made it sound like a lie!

Did Sherry hear it the same way?

He remembered Sherry saying the Campbells wouldn’t punish Teresa. He’d dismissed it then, saying it was impossible. But Sherry was right.

He felt utterly humiliated.

“Alright. You Campbells dare to fool even me. Don’t blame me for being ruthless! Get out!”

They were furious but dared not speak out, not daring to target the Bode family, and could only leave.

Only he and Sherry remained in the room.

They didn’t end up together because of Sherry. He’d understand, wouldn’t he?

But now she couldn’t wait any longer. “I’m going to settle the score with Sherry. I’ll make sure she’s bedridden for life!”
