Chapter 167 Betrayal
Chapter 167 Betrayal
She felt so stupid-like a total idiot.
But Gilbert thought Sherry was fessing up. He clenched his fists tight and swung at her.
When does Gilbert ever believe me, anyway?
Why’s he treating me like this?
He’s such a total hypocrite.

Gilbert stopped just short of hitting her. This time, he hated her-hated her more than anything.
He pulled his fist back and lifted his hand to slap her instead.
“Gilbert!” Teresa’s sudden voice took both of them by surprise.
The Campbell family didn’t have the cash or clout to get on this cruise.
Gilbert didn’t want to deal with her at first. He wasn’t even close to Teresa.
But he didn’t expect her voice to shake that bad-or her clothes to be soaked through.
“There are terrorists on the ship. The whole place is a mess. Wendy got taken.”
Gilbert shoved Sherry away. She almost toppled over.
She could use her skills to take him down-she was even better than before. But her body still hadn’t bounced back from the medicine.
Even so, she wasn’t gonna let him hit her. She got ready to kick him.
But when he heard Wendy was taken, he let go suddenly. Sherry couldn’t stop her leg in time and fell flat on the ground.
Her leg felt like it got cut on something, but she didn’t care. Yelena was still in the suite.
She was terrified that Yelena would get hurt.
Teresa talked fast. “Some people in the suites already got rescued. But Wendy was with those terrorists— she’s in real trouble. Sherry, if you go, you’ll just mess things up.”
She held onto Sherry tight, refusing to let go.
Sherry thought she heard something. She looked over and saw rescue boats. They were in Room No. 1— they had to be the first ones rescued.
She felt a little better, but then her leg started hurting like crazy. It even started bleeding.
Teresa dropped her scared act and fixed her clothes. “Aren’t you scared?”

Sherry knew Teresa was bad news, but she was also a coward. She figured it out right away. “You’re lying. aren’t you?”
“Sort of. There are terrorists, that’s true. But there are, kidnappers too, today.”
Sherry felt something flying at her from behind. She dodged on instinct, missing the attacker’s hit.
When she got here, she checked everywhere. No one was around-unless someone was hiding outside the deck!
And there was more than one attacker. Sherry’s leg still hurt.
Right before she blacked out, Sherry heard Teresa say, “Wendy only said you and Tyrone were both in King City. She told Gilbert to pull you aside somewhere private to ask-she didn’t want you two to get humiliated.
“I can’t believe Gilbert actually did what Wendy told him. He’s not all bad, you know. At least he trusts the people he cares about 100%.
“It’s just… that 100% trust isn’t for you.”
Gilbert used to say he didn’t trust many people in this world. He didn’t trust his vain mom, or his flaky cousin Cathy.
He only had Sherry. She was the only one he trusted.
But when Wendy came back, he trusted everyone-except her.
Even if there was no love left, didn’t the friendship they built together mean anything? Did he have to ruin it all?
Her arm hurt like hell. When she opened her eyes, she found herself hanging off the deck. Below her was the dark, scary sea.
“Gilbert, help me!”
A shrill scream came from next to her.
Wendy was tied to the deck too.
Her face was white as a sheet, scared out of her wits. Wendy’s plan was for Sherry and Gilbert to run back together.
After all, Sherry would definitely come back-she was worried sick about Yelena.
Then she told one of the terrorists to tie up Sherry. When Gilbert had to choose between them, he’d pick
her for sure.
But Wendy never thought she’d wake up tied up this high.
Below was the sea-windy and dark. If she fell, she’d die instantly.
