Her Revenge Was His Regret (Shirley and Gilbert) novel Chapter 205

Chapter 205 Blind Trust

Gilbert’s words made those people even angrier.

“Ugh, let me guess. The same old story. She saved your life once. Then you made your poor, innocent wife pay for that favor?”

Gilbert froze. Hasmy story spread all over King City?

It’s not like this gets a ton of attention. If anyone really cared to notice, they’d get that I’ve got my reasons.

But those people started yelling even louder.

“Typical jerk move! I hate guys who can’t let go of their exes the most. Total trash! You can’t forget your first love, but you won’t divorce your wife either.

“Any fool can see it. You want both of them. And you expect them to get along?

“Shameless! Absolutely shameless!”

Gilbert tried to explain. But those people shouted him down.

the time they stopped yelling, Julia had been beaten up by Sherry.

or a second, people thought she was a beggar. Her pride and joy-her face-was covered in

mess.

She’d worn her fancy new outfit, from the hottest brand right now. She hadn’t even gotten to

show it off.

Sherry had torn it to pieces.

The worst part? That split second of hesitation had gotten her into this mess. But Julia knew she couldn’t fight back.

If she fought back, everything she’d worked for-all her plans-would be gone.

But she wouldn’t let this go. She’d make Sherry pay a hundred times over.

Instead, she grabbed Gilbert’s arm. She looked at him pitifully. “Sherry was right to hit me!”

Gilbert was furious. These women are just like Sherry-totally hopeless.

Gilbert figured if a woman acted just like all those ordinary women out there, she was

definitely doing something wrong. The complete opposite-anything those women didn’t do had to be the right way.

Since he was little, his father and grandfather had taught him. Low-class women had stupid thoughts. That’s why they’d stay low-class forever.

If he met women like that, he could never believe what they said.

Their thoughts would drag him down. They had no skills, but they were super petty. They didn’t even know how to be decent. So they were best at yelling and acting like shrews.

But women from high-class families would never do things like that.

So he could only trust the thoughts of educated, high-class women. Listening to them was useful.

Before, he’d thought those words were a little unfair, a little exaggerated. But now? He thought they were totally true!

These women were the perfect example of being unreasonable.

Gilbert’s family thought Julia was the best woman he could ever marry. If he married her, his family would be so happy.

That

n after being married to Sherry all these years, he’d treat her badly.

a little sorry for Sherry. But now? He thought it was the smartest thing he’d

off his shirt and wrapped it around Julia.

Looking at her, he felt even more sorry for her. “No way. I’m gonna get Sherry back. She did all these terrible things. She deserves to be punished!”

Back then, the Campbells hadn’t punished Teresa.

He’d argued with Sherry about it. Deep down, he’d felt a little uneasy. But he’d been tricked by the Campbells.

They’d gone back on their word. They’d made him lose credibility with Sherry.

Now he thought that maybe the Campbells thought their own punishment wasn’t harsh enough. So it didn’t matter if they punished her or not.

Otherwise, after all the punishments Sherry had gotten from the Campbells, why hadn’t her

personality changed at all?

“Julia, you’re just too kind. That’s why people walk all over you! You’re such a good person. You’d never do anything to hurt anyone. I know you’re just trying to stand up for Sherry.”
