Chapter 23 Fainting and the Failed Call

Gilbert waited for Sherry to back down and apologize properly. Otherwise, this time he wouldn’t go easy on her.
How could she casually insult someone’s elders? Thinking of the Mack family’s elders, pain flashed in Gilbert’s eyes.
His gaze grew tired and disappointed when he looked at Sherry.
This lesson would teach her what was acceptable and what was absolutely not.
He waited for her to soften and say sorry.
But Sherry had already stopped expecting anything from him. Now he wanted her to lick someone’s shoes? Never.
She wasn’t wrong. If Wendy really had proper parents, how could they let their daughter be the other woman?
And he wanted Sherry to lick the other woman’s shoes?
Sherry’s eyes turned blood-red, her anger boiling over.
Bang!
The loud noise echoed through the cafeteria.
Sherry swung her food tray and hit Gilbert hard on the head.
She knocked him flat on the floor.
Everyone around them froze in shock.
She’d actually taken down Gilbert with a food tray!
Sherry was breathing heavily. Her fingers felt icy, her chest numb. She was beyond furious.
Wendy stared at Gilbert on the floor, her anger exploding. “You dare hurt my Gilbert? I’ll kill you!”
She grabbed a tray to smash Sherry, seeing Sherry too angry to move. She would make her pay.
But the tray never reached Sherry.
Tyrone, wearing a bright red biker jacket, stepped in front of her. The tray hit him instead-his eyes watered, and a snot bubble popped out.
He swallowed the pain, first checked Sherry over, and breathed out when he saw she was okay.
Only then did Tyrone look at Gilbert on the floor. The once powerful man now looked like a beaten rooster-small, pitiful, and helpless.

The proud bully now seemed completely defeated.
He looked at the mess around them. No way-did Sherry really hit Gilbert?
“What happened here? Tell me!”
People glanced at each other nervously.
Wendy gave them a threatening look, daring anyone to speak.
Everyone knew how she’d gotten rid of people before.

Even if they knew the truth, who would dare speak up? Anyone who complained would be thrown out, and Wendy would face no consequences.
Finally, the office gossip Keith spoke. “Wendy dumped leftover food all over Sherry without reason. She said Sherry had messed her pants, claimed she’d been with too many men, and said she was dirty. That’s why Sherry fought back…”
“Impossible!”
Gilbert was shocked. Wendy would never say such things.
She wouldn’t. No way.
The Mack family were all good people-so kind they forgot themselves, always helping others.
Wendy was also a Mack-of course she was the same.
But the faces around them showed Keith wasn’t lying.
Gilbert insisted, “Sherry, I don’t know how you made everyone support you, but Wendy would never do this. I’ll prove it.”
Sherry’s voice was chilly. “Send Mr. Bode ten copies of the security footage. Make sure to get them authenticated, so you can’t accuse me of editing them.”
Gilbert flinched. That wasn’t the point.
What hurt was that Sherry had called him “Mr. Bode”.
She was his wife. How could she call him “Mr. Bode” like everyone else? And Tyrone was clinging tightly to Sherry, protecting her. Since when were they so close?
Anger burned through his reason. He gritted his teeth. “So you call me Mr. Bode for another man? Sherry, you’re something else.”
Then he picked up Wendy in front of everyone and carried her away.
She might have looked messy, but the smile in her eyes was clear.
