Chapter 271 The Tasting Menu
Rumor had it that money and power couldn’t buy that tasting menu.
The owner was eccentric-you had to answer questions to earn it.
Still, people lined up every day trying.
She’d just follow those two.
If she couldn’t answer the questions, no way could Sherry.
It was a couples menu-both people had to answer correctly to eat.
If one got it wrong? Only that person ate.
Which meant major embarrassment for the one who couldn’t answer.
And no helping your partner either.
Most people came alone for that reason. Couples showed up hopeful and left fighting.
Julia wanted to see exactly what those two were eating.
“Miss Mack! Welcome!”
The manager practically bowed.
Julia wasn’t the most powerful person who walked in here, but she was definitely the most frequent, almost daily.
He didn’t question it-she spent money, and that made her a VIP.
Commission was commission. His smile was pure profit.
Julia gave a cool nod. “Have you seen a rich guy here today with a female assistant… a servant?”
In her mind, that’s exactly what they were-mismatched. And she wasn’t wrong-Sherry hadn’t earned her position through proper channels.
She wasn’t just making this up.
The manager wracked his brain but couldn’t remember anyone bringing a servant. “No, doesn’t ring a bell, I only saw a couple who looked very well matched taking the challenge…”
He didn’t even finish.
Julia was already walking toward that section, half desperate to watch Sherry fail, half furious at the manager’s blindness.
“Very well matched”? How were those two well matched?
Blind, much?
But when she got there, she found the two had already taken the top private room and started eating.
A woman in black, elegant, raised her glass. “I’m not guessing relationships. I’m betting on the winner.”
She looked like some tycoon’s woman.
“Now that’s a real player. Classy. Subtle. Not like those show-offs earlier.”
The flattery landed.
The woman in black pretended not to notice, but inside? Thrilled.
“So what’s your take, beautiful?”
“Everyone’s watching the game,” she said, eyes sharp-or so she thought. “But the real winner? She’ll be the one left standing. That woman walking in? She’s got presence and confidence,
“I’m betting on her.”
People nodded. Made sense.
Then-
The semi-open screen slid shut.
Right after Julia opened her mouth, Lucas had pulled it closed himself.
