Her Revenge Was His Regret (Shirley and Gilbert) novel Chapter 299

Sherry yanked her arm free. She wasn't listening to this idiot's rambling.

Dealing with Gilbert had taught her one thing—men like this only heard themselves. They'd never understand a word you said, because in their eyes, your status was beneath theirs.

So everything you said was automatically wrong, even when you were right.

It was just another form of contempt.

Kurt grabbed for her again.

"I'm not letting you go. After tonight, Julia will be Lucas' woman." A flicker of regret crossed his face.

A woman like that—who wouldn't want her?

If he'd met her earlier, he and Julia could've been something special.

And the Grangers would've welcomed her connections with open arms.

For a second, Kurt almost wanted to let it fail. But then he remembered Julia's wide, pleading eyes.

He tightened his grip on Sherry. "Sorry about this."

He tried to shove her onto the bed.

Next thing he knew, the room spun.

He was on the mattress, staring at the ceiling. Sherry was gone.

Sherry stalked down the hall, face like thunder.

A group of partiers stumbled into view.

They started to greet her—then saw her expression.

She planted herself in front of Lucas' door and kicked.

The sound echoed. They froze.

In that moment, she looked like a mafia queen.

Sherry wasn't supposed to be like this. Normally, she only raised her voice when pushed to the brink.

This? This was something else.

Max slapped his forehead. "I'm so drunk I'm seeing things. That's not Sherry. That's hilarious."

They were all pretty tipsy, laughing stupidly in the dim hallway.

Especially the guy who handled all the women's products in the company—handsome face, claimed he understood women better than anyone.

"Right? If that was Sherry, I'd quit my job and become her personal assistant!"
