Her Revenge Was His Regret (Shirley and Gilbert) novel Chapter 310

At first, Sherry had no idea. When Gilbert brought back a cake, she just thought it tasted pretty good.

After all, he had never brought her any food before. She was simply happy and said so, even though she actually preferred other things.

But Sherry figured that if Gilbert was so busy and still brought something back, it meant he cared.

Then Tyrone said in the group chat, "Ever notice how Gilbert always orders two of every cake? Wendy's tiny—no way she eats that much."

That's when Sherry understood.

From then on, whatever Wendy wanted to eat, Gilbert bought two portions. One for Wendy. One for Sherry. What Sherry got depended entirely on what Wendy craved that day.

Sherry didn't complain. At least she got something.

Until Wendy saw that group message.

She didn't say anything at first. But after that, the cakes Sherry received were always partially eaten.

Once could be an accident. But every single time after that? Leftovers.

Sherry finally confronted Gilbert. She put the cake box on the table. "Once or twice, fine. But every day? You're bringing me food someone else already ate?"

Who knew whose mouth had been on it?

She wasn't that OCD about germs. But eating other people's leftovers daily?

Gilbert exploded. He knocked the box off the table, cake splattering everywhere. "Wendy saves half for you because she cares! She thinks about you, worries you won't have enough, and you complain?! Fine! Don't eat it! And don't expect me to buy you anything ever again!"

The cakes she used to get were the expensive ones—safe bets.

Now the leftovers were all new releases, even samples. The tags weren't removed yet. Clearly, Wendy didn't like them, so she packed them up for Sherry. When it was good, Sherry didn't even see the cake.

And Gilbert actually thought Wendy was being thoughtful.

Then came Julia.

Julia ate even better. Online posts constantly showed Gilbert buying her exclusive cakes—limited editions from boutique bakeries.

Wendy's were barely limited—just random small-batch specials.

By then, Sherry understood.

With Gilbert's status, people fell over themselves sending him things. The treatment Julia got? Sherry experienced the same now, with Lucas.

If she hadn't, she might've told herself it was just cake.

But this level of stupidity? Even as a pawn, it was exhausting.

Cathy trailed behind her. Julia was about to confront Sherry about the cream puff, planning to snatch it right in front of her.

Then Cathy grabbed her arm.

"Didn't you see that?"

"See what? He tossed a threat your way, big deal. Don't tell me you're scared of that? With your status? Come on. If I were you, I'd be running the place by now."

Back when she left, if she'd had Cathy's status and age, forget Seaseat City—she'd have every man in King City eating out of her hand.

"You saw it, and you're not scared?" Cathy's neck shrank into her shoulders. "That look—he wanted to rip me apart."

"That's how powerful men look—aggressive, dangerous. You've seen it before. I've been teaching you—how are you getting worse?"

Julia was furious.

If a single look broke her, what use would she be later?

"It's not like that. I've seen plenty of looks—top leaders, guys in the highest circles. This was different." Cathy's voice turned desperate. "It was like... like he's killed before. Like a demon crawled out of hell."
